Aldi Australia is officially offering delivery to customers across the country.

Following a successful trial in Canberra in July, the discount supermarket has announced that from today, New South Wales customers will also be able to order groceries via the delivery service app DoorDash.

NSW are the final state to encorporate the change, meaning the delivery service is now officially available from most Aldi locations across Australia.

This is the change Aldi shoppers have been waiting for, and it couldn't come soon enough.

Following its launch in Canberra, the service slowly rolled out across Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Victoria, with New South Wales the last state to be included.

There are no Aldi stores in Tasmania.

New South Wales shoppers will have their pick of more than 1,800 products including award-winning fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy, bread and household essentials direct to their doors.

But sadly, there is one catch to the announcement.

Aldi's famous Special Buys will not be on offer via the DoorDash delivery service, and will instead only be available to purchase in-store.

Either way, it's exciting news that shoppers have been requesting for years.

Aldi doesn't operate it's own delivery service, as Coles, Woolworths and IGA do.

It won't be avaiable on Uber Eats, like Coles, Woolworths and IGA are currently; Aldi instead joins Coles on DoorDash.

Aldi shoppers, who were part of the trial earlier this year, shared their thoughts about the service on Reddit, with one reminding customers that any savings by shopping at Aldi "will be lost with the mark up and fees".

Although Aldi prices via DoorDash are lower than Coles items on DoorDash, according to one shopper who took the time to compare them.

DoorDash is also more suited to smaller grocery deliveries rather than larger, weekly orders customers typically place via Coles, Woolworths and IGA websites.

Aldi reports customers ordering essentials like fresh produce, milk and eggs via DoorDash, with items from these categories accounting for about a quarter of all Aldi orders nationally.

A third of Aldi DoorDash orders are placed on the weekend, and Canberra shoppers have a bit of a sweet tooth, with Belmont Biscuit Co. Chocolate Flavoured Crème Wafers proving popular.

Western Australians, Queenslanders, South Australians and Victorians favour savoury snacks.

DoorDash has also announced a special offer which coincides with the news.

Customers who sign up to a DashPass will this week get $0 delivery fees and reduced services fee on eligible Grocery, Convenience and other orders that meet the subtotal minimum as shown in the app, as well as exclusive offers.

A DashPass costs $9.99 per month or $96 per year and can be cancelled any time.

Delivery fees can cost customers anywhere from $0.99 for a Coles delivery, $2.99 for a Chemist Warehouse or Costco Delivery or $4.99 for a 7-Eleven delivery.

Some retails offer free delivery if a minimum amount of money is spent.
