Homeowners couldn't afford a house, instead they built 'world's only floating farm'
How do you fancy catching a seafood dinner from the comfort of your couch?
One man made that dream a reality, building a home that allows him to fish while kicking back.

In an episode of World's Weirdest Homes – which you can watch for free on 9Now – Canadians Wayne and Catherine show off their floating farm home, Freedom Cove, off the coast of Vancouver Island.
The striking pink and blue farm is 500 tonnes with a half-acre garden full of plants to feed the couple all year round and an art gallery, where the pair display and sell their own pieces for income.

"We are the world's only floating farm and we know in Canada, we are the only floating island so I guess we're pretty unique," Catherine said.
Wayne built their entire structure himself, using the same techniques as fish farms to keep their home afloat.

They're also safe from the risk of floating completely out to sea via anchors connecting them to shore "like a giant spider's web".
"On those lines I have weights that act as a shock absorber so it's a flexible system and tolerates storm-force winds," Wayne explained.

It's just as unique inside, as Wayne showed how he can fish from his living room with his curious pet dogs watching on (and occasionally falling in).

It wasn't an easy way to live, requiring constant work with the nearest town a 45-minute boat ride away, but they loved it.
"As artists and real people from the working class, we couldn't afford property. We can't afford a house so we had to make our own," Wayne said.
