Stars descended on the Los Angeles premiere of Twisters at the Regency Village Theater on July 11, though the event got off to a shaky start with an animal rights protester causing a disruption.

Starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos, the film is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister.

In today's iteration, Powell stars as a social media personality and "Tornado Wrangler", teaming up with Javi (Ramos) and storm tracker Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones) to chase thrills.

But before the cast were able to settle in to watch the film, they were stunned after a woman charged up to the front of the venue after attendees were seated and started waving a sign and screaming, "There's no excuse for animal abuse. The film needs a disclaimer," according to People.

The protester was tackled to the ground by security and police placed her in handcuffs, yelling the same message as she was escorted out. It is thought that she was protesting the film's rodeo date scene.

After Powell finished his introduction for the screening, he passed the mic to co-star Anthony Ramos, who decided to acknowledge the incident.

"That was a wild intro. I had to say it," he laughed.
