Timothée Chalamet has spent his lifetime chasing an Oscar and so far been unlucky, but says he’d trade the trophy in a heartbeat for a Knicks NBA championship.

Chalamet, 28, was courtside just moments after the Knicks broke their 53-year drought in a historic win against the San Antonio Spurs when he told SportsCenter that he would “way rather this than the Oscars! Come on baby!”

Chalamet’s excitement only escalated when he made it inside the Knicks’ locker room for more post-win celebrations.

In one video, the Marty Supreme actor – a film for which he was actually nominated for an Oscar – is sprayed with champagne as he and the team jump up and down.

“The Knicks did it in five! Ahh my eyes,” he yelled, his eyes completely drenched in bubbles.

In another clip an off-camera voice asked Chalamet if he wanted goggles to protect his eyes from the champagne showers.

He replied: “I don’t deserve them. I’m not an athlete. Usually, I have a stunt double do that.”

Fans in the comment section admired Chalamet’s excitement saying, “Not going to lie, he actually deserves to be there. Dude spent lot of money to watch each game of the Knicks.”

Another said of Chalamet: “That’s the Knicks mascot”.

Chalamet is known to be a die-hard Knicks fan, having been a courtside fixture at their games for years and even skipping the Met Gala in favour of a game on one occasion.

The internet has gone wild over Chalamet’s reaction to the win, many of them noting “your childhood dreams outlive your adult ones”. Likely the reason why the Hollywood star would be happy to give up a chance at an Oscar win for another championship.

Chalamet has been nominated three times at the Oscars for Best Actor. He earned his first nomination for Call Me by Your Name in 2018, his second for A Complete Unknown in 2025 and for Marty Supreme in 2026.

He wasn’t the only A-lister spotted courtside, with his Chalamet’s girlfriend Kylie Jenner also watching the Knicks during the live finals as well as other famous lifelong fans including Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Jerry Seinfeld, Taylor Swift and Mariska Hargitay.
