“While I am struggling to imagine life without him, I am forever grateful to have experienced what so many people spend their lives searching for – the love of a lifetime,” she wrote.

Alan’s cause of death was not revealed in the post, but Michele shared that her husband “faced more than his share of health challenges over the years, yet he continued to approach life with determination, humour, and gratitude.”

“He fought hard for the life he loved and I was honoured to stand beside him through it all,” the post continued.

The soap star revealed he was diagnosed with a “rare, aggressive and incurable cancer,” in his 2023 memoir Lights, Camera, Cancer!

He explained that he underwent four major surgeries as part of his treatment, chemotherapy, 29 CT scans and a recurrence.

Michele paid tribute to her husband by recognising his “extraordinary life” explaining he came from “humble beginnings” in Illinois.

“Many knew him from his years on All My Children, while thousands of others knew him as the teacher and mentor who encouraged them to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams,” she wrote.
