Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart’s big realisation decades after show aired
Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart didn’t realise just how iconic the cult classic show was until long after it ended.
“We knew the network believed there was a fan base there, we knew the show was doing well on TV,” the 50-year-old said on Today Extra on Tuesday.

“It wasn’t until the last 10 years, where we have these fan interactions with people at Comic-Con... people would say they got through a hospital stay, or were being bullied in school, but they felt like you were their best friend, so you [get to] see the show has had an impact internationally and generationally.”
Hart and the cast of the comedy are about to embark on a 30-year reunion tour across the US, with the actress hinting that they might head to Australia as part of the tour.
“We might [come Down Under]; we did a whole movie out there, Sabrina: Down Under,” she continued.
“It was unbelievable. My friend was a mermaid [in the film]. I got certified to dive; we spent two weeks in Hamilton Island. We had the best time there.”
When asked by hosts David Campbell and Belinda Russell if she would ever revisit the show for a reboot, Hart played it coy.
“I don’t know... of course, we would love to get back together as a cast, but sometimes it’s nice to move on, too.”
Following the show’s end in 2003, Hart has continued to work in television. Her most recent work includes directorial credits for the iCarly revival, as well as The Goldberg’s and Young Sheldon.
In 2023, she competed on the US reality show The Masked Singer as Lamp.
She’s also recently starred in Lifetime TV thrillers Bad Guardian, Killing the Competition and Netflix’s holiday rom-com A Merry Little Ex-Mas.
