Aussie rocker Daniel Johns says he may never perform again despite gearing up to release his first solo album next month.
The former Silverchair frontman, 42, made the surprise admission to Rolling Stone Australia, confirming in the April issue of the magazine that he won't be going on tour to promote his new album, FutureNever.

"Some people write records so they can perform it live, which is completely cool, but I don't write music so I can perform it," he said.
"I just don't feel like a performing artist. I don't feel like a touring artist. I feel like someone who needs to come up with stuff, and come up with new s--t."

Johns achieved international fame in the '90s when he formed Silverchair with his mates Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou. The band went on to receive 49 ARIA nominations, 21 of which they won, which is more than any other artist in the history of the awards.
Despite this success, the band split in 2011 and Johns said in a previous podcast that he does not look back on their awards and memorabilia fondly.
"It's not that I am not proud of it, but for some reason, I don't want it around," he admitted on his Spotify podcast Who Is Daniel Johns?. "I wouldn't even get Silverchair back together for a million dollars with a gun to my head."
