Samantha Armytage confirms decade-long dating rumour with fellow TV veteran
Samantha Armytage has confirmed she “went on a few dates” with fellow journalist Michael Usher about a decade ago.
Samantha, 50, made the revelation as she appeared on Kyle Sandilands Live on Tuesday morning, where Michael’s son, Max, 19, happens to work as an intern.

During a segment on the show, Max took the microphone from Kyle and asked Samantha for clarification on her apparent dating history with his father.
“There used to be some stuff in the press about dad and you... that you and him had relations?” Max asked.
The Golden Bachelor host was stunned and chuckled to herself before replying: “I can’t believe you are doing this to your own father!”
Rumours of Armytage’s romance with Usher floated around in 2015 and then again in 2017. Neither of them have ever addressed the claims.
After Max and Kyle prodded her for answers, Samatha eventually confessed she and Michael “went on a few dates” all those years ago.
A producer then took the joke further, claiming Max was looking for a “mother figure” but both Samantha and Max were quick to shut that down.
“He’s got a mother! I know her, she used to work at Channel Nine,” Sam replied.
Michael was married to his Max’s mother Annalie for more than a decade before they split in 2013.

Together Michael and Annalie had three sons; Tom, 23, Max, and Alex, 17.
Samantha and Michael were first reportedly set up by Seven News anchor Natalie Barr in 2015.
The pair reportedly went on a few dates and reconnected two years later, with rumours they spent time together at Samantha’s Southern Highland’s property.
By mid-2017 the relationship had reportedly run its course.
Samantha went on to marry equestrian businessman Richard Lavender in 2020, with the pair separating in 2024.
Michael is currently in a long-term relationship with a private corporate lawyer named Georgina. The pair have been together since 2020.
Samantha is a day away from launching her new interview podcast series titled Act Two with Samantha Armytage, with the first episode launching on Wednesday.
