Front Row: Gagged whistleblower attends Q&A panel and a Spice Girl spotted on a Sydney bus

This week, Front Row attended an unsettlingly quiet Q&A in London where one panellist couldn’t speak a word without facing legal consequences. Back on home soil, we busted a move with Mel C on a Sydney bus and got the tea on Sandra Bullock from ’90s heartthrob Harry Connick Jr.
Silent or Silenced?
At an advanced screening of The Social Reckoning in London, a Q&A panel after the film looked a little different than usual.
Typically, in a Q&A you hear from the panel but Sarah Wynn-Williams’ (far left) appearance appeared to be a show of malicious compliance Supplied
The new Aaron Sorkin movie details the events that led Facebook to become Meta, after whistleblower Frances Haugen leaked company reports and documents to The Wall St Journal’s Jeff Horwitz, who wrote a 17-part series called The Facebook Files.
Haugen went on to testify in front of congress and was never sued by the company.
But subsequent whistleblower, Sarah Wynn-Williams, a former senior executive who is being sued by the tech giant after releasing her 2025 memoir Careless People, has famously been gagged by the company.
That didn’t stop the former global public-policy director from sitting on stage during the Q&A panel in London, alongside Mark Zuckerberg’s former mentor and early Facebook investor, Roger McNamee.

There was one catch though – while McNamee decried where the company has gotten to over the years, Wynn-Williams could barely blink in anyone’s direction, let alone say anything.
There was no nodding in agreement, just polite sitting on the end stone-faced but in solidarity to other members on the panel wanting big tech to be held accountable if they put profits in front of people.

At least, in this instance, there was no need for Oprah Winfrey’s famous quote, “Were you silent, or silenced?”
Pop megastar spotted on Sydney bus
Front Row has interviewed stars in some truly bizarre places (a supply closet? Check. A makeshift shed on set? Check). But never have we interviewed one of the world’s biggest ’90s stars at the back of an old Sydney bus.
Stop right there! It’s Mel C on a bus! Supplied
It was a sweltering 28-degree day when one of our Front Row reporters squeezed into a full Sporty Spice tracksuit to meet the one and only Melanie C.
Sadly, the original Spice Bus wasn’t available, but Mel was instantly transported back to 1997.
“There’s also a bus in the Wannabe music video, so this takes me back!” she laughed.
In the ultimate throwback, our Front Row reporter whipped out a copy of her very first CD, Spice Girl’s Stop single, still intact. Of course they had to show Melanie.
“Look at that, it includes three exclusive tracks recorded live in Istanbul. That was our first ever gig, our first ever live show,” the singer reacted.
It’d been 28 years since the hit single came out. Surely the Sporty Spice still remembered the dance?!
“Of course,” she replied. Then came six unexpected words: “Do you want to do it?”

Seconds later, Front Row was jammed in the narrow bus aisle, doing the full Stop routine alongside Sporty Spice herself.
Safe to say, 10-year-old us is screaming!
Harry Connick Jr’s telling confession about Sandra Bullock
When Front Row sat down with Harry Connick Jr., we expected polite Hollywood press-junket chatter. What we didn’t expect was for the actor to spill the beans on three Oscar-winning royalty he’s shared the screen with over his three-decade career.
His verdict on Renee Zellweger (New in Town) and Hilary Swank (P.S. I Love You)? Exactly as lovely and soulful as you’d hope.

“Renee Zellweger, you may have an idea of what she’s like and it’s probably, ‘Brilliant, incredibly funny and kind’. That’s really who she is,” Connick told Front Row.
“Or Hillary Swank, she is just incredibly soulful and just amazing.“
But it was his confession about his Hope Floats co-star Sandra Bullock that really caught our attention.
“I remember the first time I met Sandy Bullock. It was at a studio lot, and I’ll never forget it,” Connick spilled.

“She came out, and within two minutes of getting to know her, there was no question as to why she was this mega movie star, because she really is special.
“She’s an incredibly charismatic, incredibly smart woman.“
According to Harry, the Hollywood rumour mill has it wrong for once – these powerhouse leading ladies really are as charming, clever, and grounded in real life as they seem on screen.
So much for “never meet your heroes” – we’re ready to move into Sandy’s guest house immediately.
