Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis' entire relationship in pictures
Soccer icons Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis have announced they are expecting their first child together.
The pair share a heartwarming love story.
Though much of their romance takes place behind closed doors, the sporting duo does share parts of their relationship with their fans.

August 5th, 2021:
The Australian football superstar and American midfielder were used to competing against one another until they began dating at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kerr and Mewis have been romantically linked since 2021 after the duo faced off against each other at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
Australia's Matildas lost 4-3 to the United States women's soccer team.
Kerr and Mewis were then pictured sharing an embrace on the field.
Kerr had recently separated from her long-term partner Nikki Stanton. They had been together for seven years.
September, 2021:
Throughout the following months, the duo shared various moments from their time together on Instagram.
During this time, Mewis wished her love a happy birthday with a series of photos showing the pair on dates and relaxing at home.
At the time, Kerr had returned to the United Kingdom to play for Chelsea.
"Happy birthday to my favourite person in the whole world ❤️," Mewis wrote.
"Good thing you have a whole year to work on your two touch. Missing you my love xx."
November 4th, 2021:
Mewis opened up about seeing Kerr at the Tokyo Olympics to Just Women's Sports' Snacks' podcast.
"I hadn't seen her in so long, so of course it was like crazy that we were going to be at the Olympics together and crazy that we were going to be playing each other," Mewis said of Kerr to the podcast.
"It was obviously so cool that she was there and that we were playing them, but also obviously with COVID-19 times and stuff like that … I couldn't really see her that much. And it had been so long already – it had been months."
Mewis also said it is "confusing" having her sister and Kerr together at the same place, as Mewis' sister is also named Sam – and Kerr's middle name is May and Sam Mewis' middle name is June, so even that's similar.
According to the podcast, Mewis said, "You're joking, right?!" when Kerr told her what her middle name was.
2022:
2022 was a quiet year for the long-distance couple.
In September, Mewis posted a photo of the pair alongside the caption: "Happy birthday baby."
The Aussie football star earned the title of Australia's greatest-ever goal scorer, beating Socceroos player Tim Cahill.
She also became the first female footballer to be featured on the cover of a global version of FIFA.
The couple also celebrated Pride Month in 2022, their second as a couple.
January 2023:
2023 started with a bang as Mewis and Kerr posed for Gaffer and opened up about how they were managing being a long-distance couple.
"I feel like we just make it work," Mewis said.
"We set little milestones," Kerr added.
"We make time during the week where we'll watch the same show and FaceTime or have dinner together or something.
"But it's tough. I think the thing that keeps us going is that we can see an endpoint."
Kerr spoke about what it was like having such intense chemistry with a rival team member.
"It was about three or four months until we could hang out in person," Kerr recalled of her first meeting with Mewis.
"The first time we ever met there was quarantine so we had to spend two weeks together the first time we met.
She added: "I was thinking, 'If I don't like her this is going to be awkward'."
February 2023:
February was Mewis' birthday month, and Kerr celebrated the day by penning a heartwarming Instagram post.
"Happy birthday my love, can't imagine life with out you. 3 years older than me don't forget it x (& mac happy birthday)," she shared.
July 2023:
During the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, Kerr and Mewis played on opposite sides, though they didn't let their relationship get too competitive.
The pair enjoyed hanging out when they got the chance and catching up via FaceTime as they navigated their long-distance relationship.
At the end of the World Cup, the duo enjoyed some much-needed downtime together.
September 2023:
Weeks after the FIFA Women's World Cup ended, rumours began swirling that Kerr and Mewis were actually engaged.
Footage of Mewis posted on Gotham FC's official Instagram page showed her sporting what appeared to be a ring on her left hand.
"Omg, is Kristie wearing an engagement ring???" one person wrote.
"Not the ROCK," another excitably noted.
February 4th, 2024:
Freshly engaged, the soccer couple took their relationship to the next level and moved in together.
"Apartment coming together," Mewis wrote excitedly on Instagram, offering fans a look inside their joint.
