Katy Perry posts hilarious reaction to ex-boyfriend Josh Groban's engagement announcement

Katy Perry has posted a hilarious reaction to the news that her ex-boyfriend Josh Groban.

Groban, 45, proposed to his partner Natalie McQueen, 36, and his ex Perry, 41, took to TikTok to share her unexpected reaction to him moving on.

It's long been suspected by the pop star's fans that her hit break-up song The One That Got Away was written about Groban after the pair briefly dated in 2009.

The video starts with a screenshot of a news headline announcing the couple's engagement with her song playing in the background.

Perry then appears on the screen, holding a glass and wearing a robe with her hair tied back.

She then starts pouring a drink into the glass until it overflows, before making a cheers to the camera and having a big sip.

Perry then fake cried and disappeared off the screen.

The caption of the post simply reads "Congrats," with a wine glass emoji.

Her fans were quick to jump to the comments, with some commending her sense of humour, while others joking that it must have been an accidental upload.

"Katy, u accidentally pressed the post button," one person commented.

"She's actually so funny," another commented.

"I didn't even realise this is Katy Perry's account," a third wrote.

"She got humour, you all need to get some chuckles and giggles in your life," one fan replied.

Meanwhile, other comments reminded her that she's pulled "the Prime Minister of Canada."

Perry and Groban were rumoured to have been dating around early 2009, however at the time representatives for both stars denied any romantic involvement.

Years later, in a 2013 interview with Details magazine, Groban reportedly described his and Perry's relationship by saying that the pair "skirted on the line of dating".

The statement has since led fans to believe that her 2010 hit song The One That Got Away may have been inspired by her fling with the You Lift Me Up singer.

Then, on a 2017 live stream when Perry was asked to rank her former partners from best to worst, she said that Groban was "the one that got away".

Perry is currently dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 54.

Speculation of a romance began when the pair were spotted dining together at a high-profile restaurant in Montreal, Canada, in July, 2025 during Perry's visit to the city for her Lifetimes Tour.

Days after, Trudeau was spotted among the audience at Perry's Montreal show on Wednesday, July 30.

They've also been papped together on a yacht and at a cabaret show at the Crazy Horse in Paris for Perry's birthday.

The pair's hard launch in December is still the funniest relationship confirmation we've ever seen, with the former Prime Minister of Japan accidentally confirming the pair were together in a photo posted to X.

The photo shows Kishida and his wife Yuko standing in front of a Christmas tree with Trudeau and Perry, writing: "Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch."

Since then, the pair have been dating each other privately, with the former politician making an appearance on Perry's Instagram page every now and then.
