Katy Perry has enjoyed an incredible rise to the top.
From a religious upbringing, releasing a Christian album before cracking the big time to now being one of the world's biggest pop stars, it seems there's just no stopping the star, 40.

1980s: Singing sensation Katy Perry was actually born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson in California, in October 1984.
She recently shared this throwback picture of herself with her father and said she was dedicating her AMAs performance to him in a sweet post to her millions of followers.
She was born to mother Mary Christine and father Maurice Keith Hudson, Pentecostal pastors.
Perry had a religious upbringing and has spoken about it previously.
One of the first albums she released was a Christian album in 2001.
"I didn't have a childhood," she told Vanity Fair recently.
She added that growing up she could never use words including "devil dog" or "dirt devil".

It was four years before the release of her second studio album which featured songs including the one that put her on the map, 2008's I Kissed A Girl.

She previously said how she prepared herself for fame and hitting the big time with an old interview recently resurfacing.
"I pace myself and I'm looking to do big things every step of the way, hopefully," she said.
2006: Perry is spotted at an industry event on the red carpet.
2008: This year was a big year for the singer.
2008 was the year her second studio album called One of the Boys was released.
2008: Hits on the album include Hot n Cold and I Kissed A Girl and put Perry on the map.
"A lot of people are living in fear from something that happened in their childhood, or some form of PTSD they picked up along the way, and I created this wonderful character called Katy Perry that I very much am, and can step into all the time, but I created that character out of protection," she told The Guardian in a candid interview.
2006: Perry dated late actor Johnny Lewis from 2004 to 2006.
But he died in September 2012 following alleged tragic events.
He reportedly inspired her song The One That Got Away.
2009: Perry is pictured with her now ex-husband Russell Brand.
The pair married in India in 2010 but split in 2011.
She previously claimed to Vogue he told her of his divorce plans in a text.
"He's a very smart man, and I was in love with him when I married him," she said.
"Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."
