Justin Baldoni breaks silence for the first time on bitter Blake Lively legal battle

Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily have spoken out for the first time since his drawn-out legal war with Blake Lively came to an end.

“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say,” Justin, 42, began in an Instagram video shared on Wednesday.

Emily continued: “There is so much to say. What does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today with immense gratitude for so many things that have happened to us.

“It doesn’t negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years.”

This development follows the May 4 settlement between Baldoni and Lively, which abruptly ended their two-year It Ends With Us court battle a fortnight before they were due to stand trial.

A month before the settlement, a judge had thrown out 10 of Lively’s 13 claims, including her claim that Justin sexually harassed her. Three other claims were set to go ahead; breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting in retaliation.

In the video, Emily continued: “We’ve had to wrestle with so many things, and try to understand so many things like... how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women.

“The truth is, the reality is there’s been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family, which also makes it hard to speak...”

Justin, looking over at his wife, added: “What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken to existence over the last couple of years, and that created so much noise.

“We didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.”

The couple said that while there are still many things left to say, right now they are focusing on healing and spending time with their family.

Emily said: “The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves, and here we are.”

In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, alleging on-set sexual harassment, a hostile work environment and a calculated public relations “smear campaign” against her.

Baldoni denied the claims and fired back with a countersuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation and extortion. Judge Liman dismissed Baldoni’s countersuit in June 2025.

In her lawsuit, Lively said that during filming, Baldoni made inappropriate comments about her appearance, violated physical boundaries while filming a love scene, and pushed for nudity – against Lively’s wishes – during a scene in which her character was giving birth.

Baldoni denied doing anything outside the realm of the normal creative process of making a movie.

The judge dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims in April 2026, and the out-of-court settlement took place in May 2026.

It has been reported that despite Lively and Baldoni spending a combined $60 million during their 18-month legal war, neither saw a penny in the agreed-upon settlement.

It’s since been reported Lively is seeking $US8million ($11.4 million) in fees and costs she says resulted from her battle against Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios.
