'Oceans 8' stars Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson did a live TV interview that left the host in tears

The A-list stars of Ocean's 8 are in the midst of a whirlwind promo tour for their film, which is an all-female spin-off of the Ocean's Eleven heist movie that starred Hollywood heartthrobs George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon (just to name a few).

Cate Blanchett and Sarah Paulson recently appeared on the US Today show, and while their job was to promote their film by talking about it, they got a little carried away by other things, which resulted in them not really talking about Ocean’s 8 at all.

The actresses sat down for a live TV interview with host Hoda Kotb, and pretty much from the moment the chat started it was derailed by the stars.

It started with Blanchett, 49, and Paulson, 43, talking about how they hardly knew each other, and then Blanchett jokingly told the impeccably-dressed Paulson that she needed to "get a stylist."

"I borrowed it from your mother!" Paulson play-fired back.

From then on the interview became more of a trainwreck, as Kotb failed to reclaim control but seemed to have the best time anyway -- so much so that her mascara started running because she was crying so much from laughter.

"Let's all cry," Blanchett declared as the three of them held hands.

Blanchett also took a shot at Paulson for never having won an Oscar. "What did you get?" the two-time Academy Award winner asked her friend. "You won an Emmy. One? That's nice."

The interview got so out of control that Kotb eventually called upon her co-anchor Savannah Guthrie for support. It was at this point that Blanchett sat on Paulson's lap and they continued the interview as one star, at least for a portion.

Ocean's 8, which also stars Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter and Awkwafina, is out in Australia on June 7.
