Aussie comedian Judith Lucy shares cancer update
Aussie comedian Judith Lucy has shared an update on her cancer journey after learning she needs to undergo a double mastectomy.
Lucy, 58, shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed throwing up a peace sign and smiling at the camera. The words “fun with cancer” are written across the photo.

In the caption, she revealed the snap was taken moments after she learned she would need to have both of her breasts removed in her battle against breast cancer.
“So this was me last Friday when I heard that it was now a mastectomy,” she wrote.
“And yes, it’s a bit of a peekaboo shot so that’s my breast waving goodbye guys!
“My jugs and I have been pretty overwhelmed by the response so THANK YOU and again, GET THEM CHECKED LADIES.”
“You can’t feel my cancer so without a mammogram I would have been screwed!”
She shared the update just one week after revealing her diagnosis in a video posted to her Instagram account.
“If you’ve been wondering why I haven’t been posting much personal stuff the last couple of weeks. Here’s your answer. Strap in,” Lucy captioned a video of herself filmed in her home.
“Hi Australia, a little not-so-fun update from me. Yesterday three weeks ago I went to Moonee Ponds to pick up yet two more syringes of yet another stranger’s turds,” Lucy began an anecdote about how she discovered she had cancer.
“And in fact the nurse even said to me, ‘Gosh, it’s unusual that you haven’t had a better response to this.’ So already I was feeling pretty lucky.
“On my way home I got an email from Breast Screen Australia telling me that my mammogram result was a bit weird. And I take this opportunity to say ladies, for the love of god, keep up with your mammograms.

“Anyways, long story short, I’ve got breast cancer.”
Lucy said the cancer was in its early stages and said it was non-aggressive but she will undergo a double mastectomy.
“I didn’t want to say anything about it until I knew what was going on. I went in last Friday for a lumpectomy and a doctor called – I’m not making this up – Doctor Fun found more cancer.
“So we have gone from a lumpectomy to a mastectomy on Friday week. I said, ‘While you’re there, let’s get rid of the other one.’
Lucy thought it was rather ironic that she’d just released health and wellness book Well Well Well ... My Wellness Odyssey from Psychics to Psychedelics and Beyond. Instagram/@officialjudithlucy
“Because if I do say so myself, I have had 40 years of large and spectacular breasts. You had your chance fellas,” she joked.
“So I think I’m quite fine with going bra-free for my last chapter.”
Lucy also addressed what she called “the elephant in the room” – the fact that her cancer diagnosis coincided with the release of her health and wellness book Well Well Well ... My Wellness Odyssey from Psychics to Psychedelics and Beyond.
The memoir covers Lucy’s shock retirement from stand-up comedy in 2022 after dealing with profound burnout.
