Exclusive: Alex's scathing words for Lulu following his shock elimination on The Summit 2023

Alex's departure from The Summit was undoubtedly the most emotional one to date.

Sitting at the final Checkpoint, the final five knew someone would have to go. And with Lulu, Brooke, Isaac and Alex having a strong bond through the entire climb, most assumed Jans would be the next trekker eliminated.

But when Lulu saw an opportunity to form a majority, she convinced Brooke to vote for Alex hoping that later on the two women could band together to eliminate the other trekkers if needed.

It was a tough call for Lulu who said at the end of the day, "it's just business".

"I totally understand why Lulu is a two-time world champion boxer, lures them in and absolutely pulverizes them at the last minute," Alex exclusively told 9Entertainment.

"Well done."

After being "absolutely whacked" from the competition, Alex said if he was to have his time over he "would make sure to split up Brooke and Lulu".

The former AFL player is family-orientated and with a wife and two young daughters at home.

He said the "most challenging" part of The Summit was "without a doubt not having contact with my family".

One of the most notable parts of Alex's Summit journey was his friendship with Isaac, with everyone around them noticing they were inseparable.

"I had a really good relationship with Isaac. For me it was one of the most rewarding things that I did on the mountain was to support him and get him through," he said.

"I really enjoyed that side of things to see the growth.

"I came into the game to win it, I didn't expect to make a lifelong friend and whilst I didn't win the ultimate I gained the friendship of a really good person and I'll enjoy that in the years to come."

With such a strong bond, it's no surprise that Alex wants to see his mate stand up the top of The Summit.

"He's the most resilient person I've seen on this trip – the phoenix, I called him," Alex laughed.

"He's cheeky, he has a really good sense of humour which was great for everyone around him. He was really impressive."
