Lisa and Rosco were desperate to bag their first win on The Block, and they finally managed to do so with their Main Bedroom and Walk-In Robe.

But what was the game changer that made it all happen? Well, it turned out to be something that Foreman Dan warned them against, but they didn’t listen.

The couple decided to go for lime plaster on the walls; a challenging task, given it requires two full days and careful preparation before a specialist can even begin.

A plaster delivery delay caused even more chaos, with Foreman Dan urging the couple to abandon their plans and instead use white paint to complete the room.

Alas, they persevered, as they were adamant on the lime plaster, which involves mixing sand and water with slaked or hydraulic lime instead of standard gypsum or cement.

It’s slightly different to Venetian plaster, which we see almost every year on The Block; instead of the latter’s smooth, satin, finish, lime can be more matte for a more earthy, coastal texture.

The result is a soft, marble-like surface with depth and movement that shifts with natural light.

Once it was all placed on their walls and ceiling in the bedroom, the results spoke for themselves.

It perfectly complemented the marble counter in the Walk-in Robe, and the coastal, beige motif that was running through the room.

Lisa and Rosco didn’t actually design their robe at all, they inherited it from Courtney and Sev when they swapped houses – but the bedroom area, that was all them.

Lisa and Rosco won with an impressive 27 points, two whole points above the runners-up in House 1 and 2!
