The Block’s host Scott Cam was relatively quiet ahead of the Season 22 launch and on Sunday night he revealed why alongside photos of himself in hospital.

The 63-year-old gave a thumbs up in one picture from his hospital bed and explained that he’d been “getting a new knee” for the past two weeks.

“G’day gang!! You may have noticed I’ve been a little MIA before The Block kicking off tonight,” he posted on his Instagram account.

“I’ve been getting a new knee for the last 2 weeks to keep up with the grandkids. Keen for you all to watch @theblock tonight, 7 O’Block.”

In one snap he showed off the huge bandage over his knee, while another was of him up and about with a walking stick and moving again.

The post was flooded with support from former Blockheads wishing him all the best for a speedy recovery.

“Thinking of you Scotty, all the best for a speedy recovery!” commented last year’s winners Britt and Taz.

Sonny and Alicia commented, “Speedy recovery Scotty. We’re thinking of you ❤️.”

“All the best w the recovery mate,” judge and real estate expert Marty Fox replied.

Late last week Scotty revealed he had been in hospital for a while as he called into B105’s Stav, Abby & Matt to chat about the new season of The Block.

“I am calling you from my hospital room, which I’ve been in for 12 days. I just had a knee replacement,” he explained.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing that’s for sure.

“First five days is not good. Let me tell you. I’m at the back end now,” he added.

“I was on the heavy duties [painkillers] in the early days because knee replacements are pretty big.

“Yeah, there’s a lot of pain involved. But now I’m at the back end. I’m going home on Sunday, and I’m still incapacitated a little bit with a walking stick.”

Scotty made it home just in time for the Season 22 launch of the hit renovation show, and clearly this year is going to be big.

When it comes to this year’s Block, Scotty admits he’s already feeling the nerves ahead of auction day.  Nine

Before the launch he also spoke to nine.com.au and admitted there were some nerves already about this year.

Like everyone else in real estate right now, he admitted he was already feeling the nerves for auction day – thinking months into the future.

While there are nerves every year for auction day, the new “curveballs” that have been thrown at the market have added some extra anxiety.

“I think that people are nervous about buying at the moment, and that will obviously affect us,” he explained.

“But we’re happy with our product.”
