Summer is the perfect time to get on the tools to smash out your own DIY projects at home — even Scotty Cam has been doing it.

The Block host recently finished his own 'holiday project' and it's perfect for anyone with a garden that's being attacked by birds.

Taking to Instagram he shared the instructions for the bird cover he made for his veggie patch and revealed it cost him less than $300.

"Holiday Project: Birds are getting into the veggie garden so building a very cheap bird, netted cover (you could use clear plastic to make a green house) All materials were under $300," he wrote.

Alongside step-by-step instructions he shared photos of the process, giving a visual guide of how to do it.

Step 1: 1200mm reo bar belt into the ground.

Step 2: Slide electrical conduit over reo bar on both sides at desired height.

Step 3: Whack the bird net over the top.

Step 4: Skirting board inside and out screwed together, clamping conduit to wippa snip up to [the edge].

Step 5: Put small screws 300ml apart and 10ml proud along the skirting.

Step 6: Stretch the net and hook on to the screws.

Step 7: Cut off the excess.

Step 8: Put a bunch of screws down one of the conduit and cut out a gate on one side.

"Job done! Heading to Melbourne very shortly to start The Block," he finished the post.

Obviously Scotty's were impressed by his project, but the little hint about heading back down to Melbourne soon was what got them excited.

2019's Block was the biggest one ever and everyone is waiting to see what this year's season brings.
