Room Reveal: Adam and Jolene’s Guest Bedroom
Adam and Jolene may have hit the brief, but there was one glaring concern from the judges - and one major question about their future in the competition.
It’s week one of The Block 2026 and Adam and Jolene are ready to “cop” whatever criticisms they’ll get from the judges for their Guest Bedroom.

The judges instantly noticed how calm the room felt, but Domain’s Alice Stolz had one major “concern”. The team may have hit the minimal brief, but is this room “too safe”?

“Does it have enough things that are interesting?” Alice questioned for a room being judged as part of the House Decider Challenger. She praised the “pretty” wall sconces but was hoping for a little more.

Shaynna Blaze, however, felt the team took “the brief of the natural and neutral and elevated it”. She gave big ticks for their use of texture, from velvet to quilting and embroidery and crochet that read quiet luxury.

“I agree with that you that it can be vanilla in the fact that it doesn’t wow me,” Shaynna added.

But it’s clear the team understood the brief, the execution was “flawless” and the lighting plan was spot on. Shaynna gave big ticks because the lighting plan lit up both the artwork and the floor.

She then spotted something she had never seen on the first week of The Block.

She pointed out the matching aged bronze on the wardrobe handles, door handles and the hinges - and absolutely sung their praises.

“On the first week, I’ve never seen anyone do that because time and being able to get the supplies is really hard,” she commented.
