Room Reveal: Chantel and Wyatt’s Kids Bedroom and Redo Room
After this week, the judges said it’s clear that Chantel and Wyatt have “no strategy”.
This week Chantel and Wyatt tackled their kids room, deciding to design it for a slightly older child. They were also given the opportunity to fix their living space, which left the judges wildly dissapointed just a few weeks ago. And while they weren’t too concerned ahead of room reveals, they definitely weren’t feeling great after hearing the judges’ feedback.

“Everyone’s missed the brief ... I don’t understand what’s going on today. Surely not,” Marty said when he stepped into what he was expecting to be a kids room. “Is there an allergy to children?” Shaynna added

Darren did admit that Chantel and Wyatt’s layout was better than House 1. But he was bothere by the drawers. While he thought they were “nice in theory,” he said they’re simply in the way.

“That curtain doesn’t sit right because that’s in the wrong spot so that chest of drawers, while it picks up some function, actually doesn’t need to be there and shouldn’t be there,” he said.

“Everything is just so forgettable,” Marty said. Shaynna described the styling of the room as “a bit lazy” explaining that the warm colours of the bedding and wall don’t at all match the timber or the cool grey of the wardrobe.

“We tried to add colour,” Wyatt said, referring to the common criticism that the couple’s house is too beige. “It’s our most colourful room, Scotty. We can’t win. We’re too beige then we try to add colour and they shut us down again.”

“It’s something other than neutral for the sake of being something other than neutral,” Darren said. “It’s a big miss.”

The judges walked away hoping that the couple had instead poured their efforts into redoing their living and dining space from week 5.

But, they were sorely dissapointed when they saw that their one piece of advice - flip the room around - had been completely ignored.

“I’m sorry, these guys are so stubborn,” Shaynna said. The judges had all agreed that the room needed to be flipped so that the ocean was visible from the couch, but for a reason they weren’t able to explain, Chantel and Wyatt refused to listen.
