If you fancy a swift recap ahead of the big unveiling, we've got you covered.

Here's five of the biggest moments that happened this week.

The teams choose their fate

In years gone by, the all-important House Decider Challenge determined which team renovate which house and ultimately sells it at the end of the season.

Usually the teams are given 48 hours and a modest budget to put their building skills on display. The winner of the challenge would go on to select which house they would transform, the second, third and so forth.

But this year Scott Cam revealed there would be no House Decider Challenge and instead the houses were assigned to the teams by a game of chance – by choosing a penguin, of course!

Engaged couple Jesse and Paige nervously picked a penguin and the rest of the teams followed suit. Once it was all over, here's who was left with renovating each house:

House 1: Jesse and Paige

House 2: Courtney and Grant

House 3: Ricky and Haydn

House 4: Kylie and Brad

House 5: Kristian and Mimi – the Adelaide couple managed to snap up the only double-storey home this year. Would it be a help or a hindrance? We'll soon find out.

Haydn's surprise arrival

During Episode 2, Haydn received a phone call saying that his partner Chelsea was in early labour – a surprise for not only the couple, but also for his teammate Ricky.

Haydn had to take a chopper to the hospital, and before he knew where he was his little girl Matilda had arrived.

Haydn and his partner Chelsea had been trying for nearly a decade to have a baby and tried IVF for years without success.

Last year they conceived naturally, which was a beautiful surprise.

Speaking about the phone call he received when he realised the tot was about to arrive, Haydn said: "My head was absolutely spinning when I had that call.

"I had a million things running through my head about what we're trying to do... and I'm on The Block, I'm at Phillip Island."

"It was waterproofing Wednesday, now it's water-breaking Wednesday!" Ricky laughed.

It meant Ricky had to go on alone... NOT the easiest task!

Paige disagrees with Julian Brenchley

In Episode 2, Paige decided she wanted to make changes to their house's floorplan.

She aimed to move the main bedroom to the mezzanine and make two guest rooms in the main house instead... but things didn't quite go to plan.

As Paige shared her the new plan, architect Julian Brenchley arrived and overheard that his design had been changed.

A shower screen scandal erupts in House 2

During Wednesday's episode, Foreman Dan and safety officer Dean delivered a brutal shutdown of House 2's builder after uncovering a sneaky flouting of the rules to install Courtney and Grant's shower.

The couple's glazers arrived to install the glass screens for their 'Moderterranean' inspired bathroom, but Foreman Dan explained there was a huge problem.

"If any trade comes on site they need all their insurances in place... they haven't quite organised to get all that sent to us so we cannot let them install until we've seen their papers," he said.

Yikes. Nine

As a workaround, he said the glazers could only "deliver" the glass to Courtney and Grant's builder Doug, who would then need to "install" it with their guidance only.

As you can see below... that's not what happened.

Which resulted in this:

House 1 have their own shower screen debacle

Shower screens also caused issues in House 1, because the custom glass Jesse ordered had not turned up. Which, after a very awkward phone call, appeared to be because Jesse did not actually order it.

The only viable solution to their shower debacle was a temporary screen that would sit 30cm below their shower head – but it would also make their waterproofing non-compliant.

A pain in the glass, indeed.

Paige decided that delivering a bathroom without a shower screen was not an option, so they planned to cough up $1700 for the non-compliant screen they would have to switch out later.

It was only during their on-camera interview that Paige learned this all happened because Jesse did not respond to their glazer's email quote and she wasn't super happy about that.

But was everything worth it in the end?
