"Grant is turning 50," Courtney says of her newly 30-year-old husband. Oof that's rough, Courtney!

To celebrate, Scotty has organised a round of mini golf, but Houses 1 and 4 are skipping it in order to deliver their rooms on time.

House 2 and 5 meet Scotty and Shell for putt-putt but don't you worry, Scotty's organised a very special guest to make up numbers. It's Foreman Keith! We love seeing his familiar face again – and he certainly looks the part!

The game has already begun when sleepyheads Ricky and Haydn arrive. "Very interesting, uh... clothing you're wearing guys," Keith greets them. It's a perfect interaction. 10/10, no notes.

And Keith's not wrong. Nine

Mimi wins the game and a $1000 prize, but is an incredible sport and gives Grant the money as a birthday gift.

Grant opens up about missing his brother Andrew, who he also counts as his best mate. But little does he know, Courtney's organised Andrew to come down to The Block and surprise him. It's an adorable reunion – there's not a dry eye in the house!

That's not the only wholesome reunion on site today. Foreman Dan has just spotted Keith, and their reunion footage is Emmy worthy.

The Blockinator is back, and boy oh boy does he deliver.

He laughs at Jesse and Paige's "weird" DIY desk and mistakes Kylie and Grant's completed wallpaper for primer.

It's the morning of tools down and there has been overnight trouble at House 1. They are are missing seven items they ordered, so they call sales assistant Nadia at 1am and want answers.

She says she told them to have a back-up plan because a public holiday in Queensland would delay goods out of the state, but Jesse and Paige are adamant that she didn't.

Cue footage from days earlier when she did. Oops.

"I will not have you call me a liar," she tells them.

"Well sorry, I'm calling you a white liar right now," Jesse replies.

Before we can even blink, Scotty arrives and you know what that means: TOOLS DOWN!

Everyone's in high spirits now, but will that continue after we hear from the judges?

Time to find out!

Jesse and Paige

After a chaotic week, Jesse and Paige deliver their girls' bedroom for a total cost of $14,333.

Shaynna gasps as she enters the gorgeous space, while Marty cannot stop grinning.

"How cute is this!" he beams.

The judges thought the colour palette was "absolutely superb".

"Gelato colours and ice cream drips and everything cute," Darren lists.

"The greens, the pink with the metal of the brass and the scalloping – everything works really beautifully."

House 1 had struggled to find their style at the start of The Block, but the judges agreed that they were now nailing the "modern colonial" aesthetic.

Shaynna notes that for a kids' room, it's a very sophisticated take.

"It doesn't feel juvenile," she says, while Marty adds: "It feels very upmarket".

They also love the room's walk-in wardrobe, but quickly discover the walls inside are missing wallpaper, which Darren says is "an incompletion issue".

They aren't convinced about the functionality of their DIY desk with the chosen chairs, but overall Jesse and Paige are showered with compliments, particularly from Marty.

They've served up a very sweet room – and it won't date, which is certainly a cherry on top!

Courtney and Grant

House 2 went from firing their builders to Grant's birthday surprise this week – talk about a rollercoaster! Can their guest bedroom, which cost a frugal $8946, earn them the best gift of all, another win?

Marty is immediately struck by the clever use of curves and Scotty relays that Darren had "a Cheshire grin".

"My heart just jumped out of my chest," he beams. "This is special."

The judges keep throwing out compliments, from "beautiful" to "insane" to "sexy".

Shaynna is so impressed by the use of texture and tones.

"I love how they have got a completely different colour for their artwork but all the earthiness works in with the slight tone of accessories, and everything again is tactile and textural," she says.

All three judges lose their minds over the incredible detail of the room's curved skirting board.

"That's hot," Darren says.

"These guys are next level," Darren agrees.

Marty is never afraid to make a bold call and declares Courtney and Grant the frontrunners.

However, Darren and Shaynna find two issues.

First, the wardrobe with draws is in a spot that if they are left open, they block the door to the room. And secondly, Shaynna finds the lights "odd".

Scotty says that Marty called House 2 "an auctioneers dream" – and if that isn't a great birthday present, we don't know what is!

Ricky and Haydn

It's a tough act to follow for the boys in House 3, but at least they're in the race this week! They have delivered a guest bedroom costing $13,949 and are hoping the judges see how much they're listening to their critiques.

"Ooh well done boys," Marty says as he walks in. A great start!

Shaynna loves their curved wall feature and thinks the room has "sophistication", which she notes is the first time she's used that word for the boys.

"I feel the fact that they're understanding the tactility that we've said about the other houses," she says, pointing out their different bedding textures.

Darren keeps it simple: "I love it. I love this, a lot."

He points out the incredible work that went into the room's shadow lines and says the boys made a great decision in bringing in new builders.

Shaynna's only concern is the colour matching of the warm-toned peaches and yellows with the cool-toned grey carpet and wardrobe.

She wants them to take inspo from their incredible palm tree wallpaper for the rest of their house – dubbing the style 'holiday resort'. Considering how well the boys listen at Room Reveals, we think she'll be pleased in future rooms!

Kylie and Brad

Kylie and Brad have completed a kids room for $9505, and despite how unenthused Kylie was about the prospect she hopes the judges see that they're willing to compromise and listen.

"Wait a minute, where are we?" Darren asks as the judges walk in. We understand the confusion!

"This is it! They've done it, this is where they need to be," he says excitedly.

Shaynna thinks everything connects, even down to the black wardrobes and black ceiling fan.

Marty agrees and thinks this is now a very marketable and appealing house.

"Even from the rooms that we've seen, when the agent puts the gallery of photos together, we've seen some rooms that were a bit stark and they're starting to really soften up," he says.

"If they play from bedroom to bathroom to bedroom to bathroom and the bedrooms are softening that entire palette throughout the entire gallery, that will engage the buyers extremely well."

He also points out that so far, Kylie and Brad have created a space with the most beds so far which puts them "ahead of the pack" for a holiday home.

Shaynna wonders about the decision to put a swing chair near glass, but Marty and Scotty back at HQ point out that it would take a lot of weight to go through the double-glazed window.

She also says something we imagine is music to Kylie's ears: they could've gotten away with more black in this room.

Darren agrees that they've found a nice balance between their edgy style and the coastal location: "I am so happy," he concludes.

Kristian and Mimi

Finally it's House 5's turn to hear what the judges think of their very pricey $18,135 kids' room, which is unapologetically Mimi's favourite. After last week's harsh feedback, they desperately want to hear the judges say "they're back".

We think they might be in luck... Darren's first instinct is frustration at how difficult their jobs are this week!

He and Marty are blown away by Mimi's statement cloud bedhead and rainbow wall decal.

Marty even thinks it will "break the internet" as viewers rush to The Block Shop to buy it.

The colour palette is "so sophisticated" according to Shaynna, which is impressive because she says it turns an art deco feature on its head into a modern beachy feel.

There is minor issue with the mattresses under the trundle beds, which are not fully functional in the space.

But despite that, Darren thinks they've completely turned it around. Yep, there's no complacency allegations this week.

"I don't see complacency here. I just see expertise, I see attention to detail, high levels of finish, beautiful layouts, great decisions and design. I mean, they're back baby!"

And there it is!

DAN VS DANI: Dan and Dani get into a fiery disagreement over team's room

It's time to tally up the scores and with Marty and Darren's scores revealed, House 4 and House 5 are neck and neck. Kylie and Brad have a Bonus Point Penguin, which could make or break this week... and Kylie shocks absolutely everyone by saying she does not want to play it.

The Block 2024 Courtney Grant

"I would've played it," Grant says. Nine

Brad – and Scotty – cannot convince her, and so, the final scores are:

Jesse and Paige: 26.5
Courtney and Grant: 27
Ricky and Haydn: 26.5
Kylie and Brad: 27.5
Kristian and Mimi: 28

Ouch. That penguin would've secured House 4 the win in a $30,000 week, but Kylie is adamant that she wouldn't have wanted to win like that.

"I don't want to win a room that I don't even like," she says.

Tomorrow night, it's time: prepare for one of the most emotional moments in Block history, as one team of Blockheads makes the life-altering decision to leave for good.

We'll see you there – don't forget to bring tissues.

The Block continues Sunday at 7pm and Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
