Episode 30 recap: Contestant ‘blows up’ at rival in ‘yelling’ match as challenge pushes team to the edge

Welcome to another fun-filled week on The Block, full of sunshine, rainbows and happy families!

Or not.

Kitchen Week really got tempers flaring between the Blockheads, so what better way to let off steam than by judging each other in Open for Inspections?

Adam and Jolene‘s changed layout gets some ums and ahs, and despite the judges heaping praise on Tayla’s styling for, well, the first time ever, the teams are less enthused by House 5’s room.

Courtney and Sev like the layout of Chantel and Wyatt’s last place kitchen better than Adam and Jolene’s winner, but our farming duo definitely don’t feel the same.

“I hate that marble,” says Jolene with her head in her hands.

“I feel like I’m in the Gold Coast casino,” Adam reacts, as they wonder whether Chantel and Wyatt’s vibe is “no heart”.

Ouch.

The kitchens are done, but this week is no easier, with two rooms to finish – laundry and rumpus – AND the year’s community challenge to work on.

Scott Cam and special guests, 2024 Block winners Maddy and Charlotte, announce the teams will be transforming two housing units at the Ranch 2.0, the only crisis accommodation on the entire Mornington Peninsula.

The sisters join forces with Courtney and Sev and Chantel and Wyatt, leaving Adam and Jolene to lead a team with Lisa and Rosco and Rick and Tayla.

The kicker? They only have four days to get it done.

Everyone gets stuck in and while Maddy, Chantel and Sev power through consults like professionals (because, well, they actually are professionals), Jolene, Lisa and Tayla struggle.

Jolene and Lisa are on the same page, but Tayla’s a little (a lot) all over the place.

Back onsite, Foreman Dan’s back!

The fact that no one is ready for flooring right now, Dan’s stress levels are through the roof.

“It’s frustrating,” he sighs. Ahhh welcome back!

Less stressed are Adam and Jolene who are on their winners’ getaway, and will be spending the night on an ultra-luxury yacht.

At the share house, it’s Chump’s dinner for four. Rick and Tayla, and Lisa and Rosco are enjoying a salad and an early night in.

While all-stars Maddy and Charlotte invite their team to the pub for some super important challenge “planning”.

And maybe a little gossip sesh.

The next day, challenge rivals Jolene, Lisa and Tayla pick up some goss of their own.

They have a bone to pick after Maddy and Charlotte’s team were approved with large wall tiles when they got told no.

But the real bone is between Jolene and Tayla who, for the life of them, can’t see eye-to-eye. After their “horrific” consult, Tayla is adamant skirting tiles will look better anyway.

But Jolene is having none of it, not when the other team are playing buy their own “rules”.

“I was like Tayla, shut up. She wasn’t listening, it wasn’t her decision to make,” huffs Jolene, the team captain to cameras.

So when Tayla does get the green light from her tiler that they can do wall tiles in time, well, we’ll let Lisa explain what happens next.

“There was chaos, there was yelling in the middle of a public space, and it wasn’t probably how grown women should communicate,” she says.

Tayla then shares her side of the story: “Next minute [Jolene] just blows off, I don’t even remember what she said to be honest... but in the middle of Freedom she yells...”

“[It was] very rude, control yourself woman,” says Tayla to cameras just after we witness Jolene storms off.

On Tuesday night, the challenge team fallout heats up, thieving leads to snooping, and tension between rivals reach boiling point.
