There's one gross spot in your kitchen you definitely need to clean — here's why

Cleaning the kitchen sink is a chore that should not be avoided, but you might not actually be giving it the deep clean it really needs.

If you've tried your best and noticed there's still a smell coming out of the sink, it might be your drains.

Liz Amaya has shown her followers on Instagram the disgusting place you're missing when you clean your kitchen. Even she admitted it's "gross", and once you see the filth that's lurking underneath her plug hole, you'll understand why you shouldn't miss this step.

"Disclaimer! It's so gross but has to be done! Don a glove! Consider this your Monday Motivation to clean out ALL your drains with items you have in the cupboard," she captioned the post on Instagram.

Liz went on to explain how to deep clean your drain.

The first step is removing the top of your plug hole. Liz used a screwdriver to lift hers up. Underneath, the cap was full of black gunk.

She then poured one cup of bicarb soda into the exposed plug hole, then followed up with one cup of vinegar. The two ingredients react and fizz and bubble in the plughole.

Next Liz scrubbed the inside of the plughole with an old toothbrush, working hard to get rid of all the grime that had built up.

Then to finish all you need to do is rinse it all off with boiling water and put the drain cap back on.

Her followers were blown away with how disgusting it was and it's pushed a few people to do it themselves.

"Ekkk… I think I need to clean mine," commented one follower.

Another wrote, "Omg I've never done this!!! Eeeek."

"The after is so beautiful," wrote one user.

It's inspired some of her followers, with one commenting, "I've just done all mine."
