Simple TikTok hack will ensure you hang your picture frames straight every time

Hanging photos, prints and paintings seems like a relatively simple task, but more often than not you can end up with wonky frames.

Turns out there's an easy hack to stop that from happening and all you need is some masking tape and of course, a level.

Home hack queen Chantel Mila, who goes by the handle @mama_mila_, revealed the hack in a recent TikTok video. She claims this trick is "the easiest way to hang your pictures straight".

First, you'll need to place a strip of masking tape across the hooks on the artwork or whatever it is your hanging. Then grab your nail and use it to mark where you need the holes to go.

Next, put the tape on the wall and use your level to check it's straight. Then hammer your nails into the wall and pull the tape off.

All that's left to do now is to hang your frame.

"Perfectly hung artwork every single time," Chantel said in the video.

Chantel's followers were blown away by the simplicity of the hack.

"My life will never be the same," one posted in the comments.

"Amazing, what a time and effort saver," a follower wrote.

"So brilliant, this would have saved my walls so many holes," another said.

If you don't have masking tape lying around there is another similar hack which requires something you'll definitely have in the house: toothpaste.

TikToker Aliyarinaldi suggests putting a dab of toothpaste on the back of the frame where you need the nail to go.

Then you just push the frame against the wall on the spot you want to hang it, and the toothpaste will transfer onto the wall. This leaves a removable mark where you can hammer in your nails.

The handy hack came from Aliyarinaldi's mother who is an interior designer, so you know it's a good one.

While both hacks mark out where you want to hang your frame, the masking tape hack is likely to be more precise. However, the toothpaste hack will be easier if you need to hang the frame before you get a chance to pick up some tape from the shop.
