Easter trees are taking over Instagram to bring joy into our homes

Easter is joining the likes of Christmas as a holiday that inspires families to decorate their homes.

And just like there are Christmas trees, these days more and more people are getting into the trend of decorating an Easter tree.

It's not as unusual as you think with the traditional tree transformed for other holiday celebrations like Valentine's Day and St Patrick's Day, so why should Easter be an exception?

Inspired by centrepieces we've seen on tables over the years, Easter trees are pastel, covered in rabbits, eggs, carrots and all things Easter.

The new idea has a lot of people digging out their Christmas trees to give them a fresh look.

A white tree acts as a good base for creating an Easter tree because the colour stands out so much more.

Bright colours and lots of pastels are sure to make a statement in your living room right now.

You can buy Easter decorations online from craft stores and places like Big W and Kmart, but you could also try your hand at making your own.

The best thing about creating an Easter tree is you can recycle some elements of your Christmas tree like tinsel and lights.

White lights will definitely highlight the pretty pastel colours.

For the minimalist approach, why not get some egg decorations in neutral colours and hang them on branches placed in an oversize vase?

It gives the same effect but without making such a bold, colourful statement in the home.

You can also use the simple stick tree and decorate with paper eggs in different colours to recreate the look on a smaller scale.

Opting for the natural tones also gives a more rustic look to the whole tree — don't forget to add in a few bunny rabbits around the base of the tree too.
