Genius dishwasher hack will stop things moving around

There are plenty of appliances that make life easier and we can all agree the dishwasher is one of them.

But there's nothing more frustrating than opening up your dishwasher to find your top rack has been turned upside down during the cycle, with containers and cups filled with water.

The worst thing is you don't know if the water inside them is dirty or clean, there's always a spill or splash trying to empty them, and it can lead to greasy residue stuck to the containers.

One clever woman has the perfect solution and it'll cost under $10 to keep your dishes in place.

A mum revealed she uses a dish rack to solve this problem. The hack was originally posted to Reddit and then shared in a cleaning group on Facebook.

She picked up a $7 rack from Kmart and places it over her dishes in the top shelf to keep everything locked in place during the cycle.

By putting the dish rack over the top of light items like containers and cups, it stops them moving around and filling up with water.

The post was hailed as "brilliant" by commenters on both platforms, with people so happy there's a quick and budget-friendly solution to the annoying problem.

"Fabulous suggestion, thank you," commented one user.

Another added, "Thanks for sharing. That's brilliant!"

Others offered alternatives, which are probably hiding in your kitchen already. The best thing about these is it's the easiest way to get them clean too with minimal effort.

"Oven rack works well too," suggested one woman.

Another explained she uses cake racks, while another user added, "I use my ceramic bowls."

Earlier this year a woman shared her game-changing hack for keeping small things like measuring cups in place in the dishwasher.

She explained she threads the holes of measuring cups onto the spikes in the upper racks — which are used for keeping mugs in place — to hold them in place during the wash.

It stops the small cups flying around the top of the machine and generally ending up full of water when you unpack the dishes.
