We all think we've got the perfect method for doing things at home, especially when it comes to how you stack the dishwasher.

But one woman has shared what can be described as a game-changer when it comes to stopping things flying around in the machine.

Taking to the popular Facebook group Mums Who Clean, Judi explained her hack for keeping measuring cups in place during a cycle.

Using the top racks you can thread small things on and keep them secure.  Facebook

She explained she threads the holes of measuring cups onto the spikes in the upper racks — which are used for keeping mugs in place — to hold them in place during the wash.

It stops the small cups flying around the top of the machine and generally ending up full of water when you unpack the dishes.

The post has received thousands of likes, with others in the group blown away by the simple yet outstanding tip.

"Well I never knew this... all mine end up upside down and full of water," wrote one user.

Another wrote, "Whaaaaaat?! Holy moly I'll be doing that next time."

"Mine blown! Think you!" wrote another person in the group.

The dishwasher is easily the MVP of the kitchen when you think about how many great things it can do, even more so now that you can keep small bits and pieces secured.

But have you thought about how long it's been since you washed your dishwasher? You do need to clean the appliance that does the cleaning regularly to keep it working at its best.

There are many products that can be used to clean your dishwasher, but it can be as simple as using white vinegar — especially if you're after a rinse aid option too.

Pour some vinegar into a dishwasher-safe bowl and put it in the top rack of the appliance, and run the cycle like usual.
