Dan’s horror in $50k winning Kids’ Bedroom, as Dani spots an Auction Day ‘disaster’

Exclusive: Having welcomed their own son Fletch, Dan and Dani were excited about this week’s Kids’ Bedrooms, only to be instantly gutted.

While execution across all five spaces deserved praise, the duo couldn’t get past one “nightmare” detail in Courtney and Sev’s $50,000 winning room, while spotting an Auction-costing “disaster” in another.

Walking in to Courtney and Sev’s Kids’ Bedroom, Dani had to mention the “elephant in the room”.

No literally, the mammoth woven elephant hanging on the wall was Dani’s “one gripe” in an otherwise perfect space.

“What is that?” Dan flinched as he looked up. “This poor kid here is going to have nightmares looking up at that. That is actually really scary.”

“Nightmare” is not exactly the word you want to hear for a room that scored three perfect 10s from the judges.

Dan and Dani disagreed over whether the space could be converted to anything but a kids’ room with the built-in bedhead and wallpaper.

But it was less of a “disaster” than what they spotted in House 1.

“Woah, what has happened here?” Dani reacted as she spotted the wardrobe in Adam and Jolene’s space.

“That is a disaster,” she declared over the lack of storage, and it could become a “big issue on sale day”.

“That is actually a disaster, who’s not putting robe storage in?” she doubled down. “I can’t get past that.”

Over in House 2, the duo were disappointed again to see another team “rebel” against the Kids’ Room brief.

“It’s not too offensive but forgetful,” Dan labelled Chantel and Wyatt’s space, pointing out the one thing the room definitely “didn’t need”.

Dan had a big smile walking into Lisa and Rosco‘s obvious Kids’ Bedroom, but Dani felt differently.

“If you took away all the child specific stuff, it’s not really a kids’ room, is it?” she disagreed.

Not even the stunning nook could persuade her.

The duo were full of praise for the “premium joinery” in Rick and Tayla‘s kids’ space, but noted “something’s wrong, something doesn’t feel right”.

It didn’t take long for Dani to figure out the one design detail that was making her head spin.

“I hate that,” Dani declared as she looked to the corner. “Why would you not get rid of that? It’s so bizarre.”
