How to make your own custom couch table with a $10 hack

Let's be real, between the coronavirus restrictions and blustery winter weather, we're all spending far more time on the couch right now.
If you don't have a coffee table, you'll know how hard it can be to balance a cup of tea on the lounge, but one clever woman has found the perfect solution, and it'll only cost you $10.
TikTok user Kat shared a simple DIY video showing you can turn a Kmart serving board into a custom-made couch table in just a few minutes.

"Hi guys, today I've got a little Kmart hack for you with this wooden board that I picked up for $10 the other day," she explained in the clip.
Kat, already prepared for an onslaught of comments asking what the board is, zoomed in on the label on the shelf in the store to make things easier for anyone wanting to copy at home.
"So first we're going to take the legs off our board," she explained, using a drill.
"It's quite easy just to unscrew these, they're not in too deep."

Next, she put new markings on the board; these new lines are the width of the arm of her lounge. Kat then turned the legs around to face outwards and pre-drilled holes before screwing the legs back on.
"And then once we've got those drilled on you can pop it on the arm of your lounge and you have a nice little rest for your cup of tea," she said.

It's a really simple hack that even someone with really basic DIY skills can do. The results have inspired others to give it a go.
"THIS IS GENIUS," commented one user.
Another follower on TikTok added, "Me at the start of the video: Pfft 'hack' yeah whatever. At the end: BRILLIANT WHERES MY DRILL."
Some users explained they thought this was what the boards were made for, after they were lucky enough for theirs to fit without any modifications.
"I bought this months ago thinking that it's was for this, mine fit prefect without changing it," read one comment.
