Viral TikTok hack reveals hidden grime lurking in your drain

It's hard to know exactly what dirt and grime is lurking in the depths of your sink drain, but a TikTok hack currently doing the rounds suggests a few ice cubes could bring it all to the surface.
A makeup artist and bartender, who goes by the handle @stephyroc99 on TikTok, revealed the surprising household hack in a recent video she posted.
"Ya'll I'm so disgusted. I moved here two months ago and randomly decided to do this TikTok trend," she wrote in her video.
The first step of the hack is to pour ice cubes down your drain. TikTok
In the video, Rochelle poured a few handfuls of ice cubes into her sink drain. She followed that step with running water from the kitchen tap.
A few seconds later, a murky brown colour bubbled up into the sink.
"I could throw up right now," Rochelle captioned the TikTok.

Absolutely disgusted by the results, she decided to let all the brown water drain out of the sink. Then she poured generous amounts of dishwashing detergent and bleach down the drain.
Rochelle tried the ice hack once again to check the state of her sink drain and to her relief the liquid that emerged from the sink was clear this time round.

Given how shocking the results it's not surprising the ice cube hack has gone viral, racking up 8.3 million views on TikTok.
Many viewers were stunned by the hack and wanted to try it themselves.
"I just did it. Thanks because I've been needing this," wrote one TikTok user.
"Definitely doing this when I get back home," added another.

Other followers had drain cleaning tips of their own, which they shared in the comments.
"Pour baking soda and vinegar and hot water down it too," commented one user.
But one viewer warned others to be careful when using bleach with other cleaning products.
"Woahhh never pour bleach down the sink like that especially a kitchen sink. Bleach + vinegar releases extremely toxic gas."
