Bookshelves are proving to be one of the most interesting things to come out of isolation

There are a lot of things we've learnt about people during this time in isolation.

Video calls have become the norm for friendly catch-ups, workplace meetings and even television interviews. This form of communication has given us a peek into the lives of our friends, co-workers and celebrities, and we're learning a lot about each other.

A big thing we're noticing is exactly how people are framing up their Zoom, Skype or FaceTime backgrounds, and it turns out bookshelves feature quite heavily.

You can learn a lot about a person judging by their bookshelf and there's a Twitter account doing just that.

Bookcase Credibility on Twitter has a feed of screengrabs from interviews and as their bio reads, "What you say is not as important as the bookcase behind you."

We've pulled out some of the standouts from the account.

Claire Danes

Storage is no problem for Claire Danes, who has a wall of it behind her in this snap. With books placed in shelving around the door, it gives the feeling of a library wall — but white paint keeps the space looking fresh.

Robert De Niro

A sneaky little bookshelf in the corner of this screenshot brings a hint of colour to the background. With several white spines poking out your eye is drawn to it, although it isn't a dominant feature in the space.

Home office or home library?

There are several spaces that feature in the Twitter feed that show off incredible book collections that look more like libraries than something you'd see at home.

We're talking walls of books, with no particularly visible form of organisation. It could be by author, or other system but it sure does make a statement.

Colour co-ordination

It wouldn't be a modern day bookshelf ranking without at least one feature of the colour co-ordinated rainbow of books.

The spines are organised by colour to create a beautiful display that definitely looks good in the background of a Zoom call.

LEGO Masters host Hamish Blake's popular Zoom For One More Instagram series has been a hit with fans.

But one thing they recently picked up on was the books behind him are organised by the colour of the spines of the books.

While Hamish hasn't made it onto the Twitter account yet, we thought he deserved a mention here.
