While the judge's didn't love the decision, Sonny and Alicia are hoping their completed entire space will change the judges' minds - with the addition of a secret door!

So was it worth the risk in the end?

"I think our timber wall will absolutely set the tone for the rest of our house," said Alicia.

"I also created that wallpaper, that's a bit of me in there."

"You don't come on The Block to not win a room. We want to win a room," Sonny said.

The judges walked in and were blown away by the hallway style entry.

"How's the artwork though, it's stunning," said Marty.

Darren was impressed by the room's lighting plan branding it "spot on".

"This is the best we've seen so far today, we've got spotlights aimed at artworks, they've highlighted the end of the bed, not near the head..."

"It's lit inside this beautiful Velux alcove," said Darren pointing out the lights in the skylight. "I think that's really beautiful and considered. Hooray!"

Marty thought the room was very warming.

"It's really calming, very homey, it's incredibly sophisticated. Very different to the other rooms," he praised.

Marty then ran his hands over the shimmering curtains.

"Come feel that," he gestured to the other judges. 'That's chocolatey smooth."

"Is that velvet?" Shaynna said in disbelief.

Marty said the curtains made the room feel anchored.

"It feels really balanced having the timber and then these chocolate curtains, you've got the room anchored. It's like it's cocooned it," he beamed.

"This feels very elevated country," Darren said of their design style. "It's a really lovely, tactile, luxurious palette.
