By Season 14 we'd seen people from all walks of life take on The Block, but when married couple Norm and Jess joined the reno show Australia instantly fell in love with the pair.

A builder and radio host from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and with two kids of their own, Norm and Jess wanted to be a part of The Block to "set up [their] little family".

"If we were to do well at auction it would also mean that we could afford to have another baby...and if it's a boy we'll call him Scotty," Jess jokingly promised Scott Cam at the time.

While their building skills got them to Auction Day, it was their sense of humour and down-to-earth nature that won them over a slew of fans.

"This is the biggest break that has happened to anyone in our family ever," an excited Jess told cameras.

Viewers followed Jess and Norm as they laughed and cried their way through a gruelling 12-week process.

But it was all worth it in the end for the true-blue Aussie battlers.
