'I'm shutting it down now': Scott Cam's announcement as coronavirus hits the site

For the first time in The Block's history, the show will shut down.

A new promo for the upcoming week shows the brutal reality of the coronavirus pandemic and the impact it has on this year's teams as Scott Cam steps in to close the site.

"I'm shutting it down, now," the host declares to the gathered teams and crew.

The voice-over says, "This is the week the world all changed forever."

Footage shows the teams, foremen Keith and Dan and Scott cramming into Harry and Tash's Master Bedroom to watch one of Scott Morrison's addresses.

"Life is changing in Australia, as it is changing all over the world," the Prime Minister says.

"Witness the week we will never forget play out before your very eyes," says the voice-over.

Both Jimmy and Tam wipe away tears and look very upset in one clip, before it flicks back to the Prime Minister announcing a ban on gatherings 100 persons or greater.

"That affects us," Keith tells Foreman Dan.

But one thing is clear, it's the parents on the show who are struggling the most.

"What are you doing with the kids?" asks Jimmy, he and Tam again in tears.

Scott stands on site, surrounded by the teams and trades and says, "You really need to be with your children."

Hearing this, Luke pulls a clearly emotional Jasmin in and gives her a hug. Harry and Tash also race over to comfort the couple.

The enemy they are battling is invisible and things appear to be constantly changing, which is what makes this whole situation so hard.

"This is The Block, like you've never seen before," says the voice-over.
