'Did I do the right thing?' McLeod's Daughters star Simmone Jade Mackinnon unveils transformation after struggling with hair loss

The Summit 2024 winner Simmone Jade Mackinnon has unveiled a fresh look to fans after opening up about her hair loss journey.

The McLeod's Daughters star has been very transparent about developing "severe anxiety" that led to "massive hair loss".

Simmone revealed that after dealing with immense financial pressure over the last few years she suffered back-to-back panic attacks that then led to hair loss.

"There was big chunks just falling out so I had to shave it all off. You lose your hair and it's a massive psychological hit," she previously said.

After spending years growing her hair back, the 51-year-old pledged to embrace her natural grey and took to Instagram to "share a hair update" with her 75,000 followers.

"When I first shaved my head, all I wanted was my hair back and so when I saw it coming back grey, I thought, 'I don't care I'm going to embrace the grey'," Simmone began.

But as her natural hair grew to length, Simmone asked her followers what she should do.

"So seriously...what would you do? Embrace the dirty mushroom of find a better grey?" she posed the question to her fans.

Simmone returned to social media shortly after with a refreshed grey colour with a few highlights and natural waves.

"So @holli_rosegoldhairbeauty has worked some magic today.✨💫," Simmone began.

"So this is definitely better but we are not done yet," she revealed, adding she was looking forward to adjusting the grey colour again in a few weeks.

"I know I originally said I didn't want to do anything to my grey hair again, wanted to embrace it as it was but I was honestly mere days away of box dyeing the whole thing…so this is a good compromise I think because we are still definitely GREY!!!"

"What do you guys think? Did I make the right move?" Simmone asked.

It was a resounding 'yes' from fans who took to the comment section to share their thoughts.

"You are ROCKING it !!! Totally freakin amazing," one wrote.

While another said, "Looks amazing, really suits you Simone ❤️🌸."

In early 2024, Simmone – who played Stevie Hall on McLeod's – won the second series of The Summit along side NRL legend Mat Rogers and midwife Charlotte.

Together the trio won $536,000 but with Charlotte holding the power, the prize money was split unevenly.

Simmone and Mat each took home $100,000 while Charlotte walked away with $336,000.

Despite "feeling very grateful" for the "life-changing money" she did receive, Simmone couldn't help but feel a little sting that the money had not been split equally between the three trekkers.

"I was shattered, and I'm still eternally grateful because that money will definitely help but I won't be able to build the shed house that I'd planned to," she told 9Entertainment at the time.
