Tammy Hembrow set out to do just one thing when she embarked on her Shark journey – to show her three young kids how “brave mum is”. The influencer, 31, did just that when she swam with tiger sharks in the season finale.

In an emotional scene, the Aussie star opened up about how she felt she proved herself following her divorce and teared up when she received a heartfelt letter from children Wolf, 11, Saskia, nine and Posy, three.

“I feel like after my divorce I lost a lot of confidence in myself, so this is sort of bringing it back a bit,” she told her Shark co-stars, referring to her split from Love Island’s Matt Zukowski after seven months of marriage.

It was then that Hembrow was surprised with an emotional message from her kids.

“Dear mummy, I miss you so much and I hope you’re doing well swimming with the sharks. Please stay safe. Everyone loves you and misses you so much. You are the best mum in the entire world. Love Saskia,” she read out.

It was exactly what Hembrow needed to hear after what had been a tough year for her personally.

Speaking to cameras she said: “You just want to make your kids proud and you want to set a good example and I just feel like I’ve made a lot of mistakes that I just feel guilty for.

“This is a positive thing that I can be proud of.”

The reality star had a message for her previous self struggling, and said: “You will be OK and you can get through anything. If I can swim with tiger sharks I can get through anything.”

In the finale episode of Shark, Hembrow was ruled out of the final dive due to a hand injury.

“To think that I am not going to be able to finish what I came here to do is heartbreaking,” she said wiping tears.

Despite just falling short of her final goal, Hembrow was grateful for the experience saying she “came out changed”.

“It’s giving me a spark back and a bit of a confidence boost that I needed,” she told nine.com.au.

“It’s important to me to show my kids you can do anything you set your mind to. They’ve always seen mummy as fearless and I want to show them through not just things I say but my actions.

“This was a way for me to show them that even after going through a tough time you can pick yourself up and do anything you want to do.”
