'Go back': Locals demand Yellowstone star Luke Grimes and his young family leave their town

Montana locals want Yellowstone star Luke Grimes out of their town.
The actor, 42, opened up about the unexpected backlash he received after moving his young family from the bright lights of Hollywood to a small-town in Montana, USA.
Grimes, who reprised his role as Kayce Dutton in spin-off series Marshals, shared details of the uneasy relocation to where both hit shows were famously filmed.

"Well, your show made a lot of f--king people move out there, though," pointed out Joe Rogan as Grimes joined Rogan on his podcast.

"That's true and they're not happy about it," Grimes revealed.

"The valley that I live in, we had some people come visit us. Our friends from California drove out, and we went on a hike, and we were in their car and they had, you know, Cali plates," Grimes recalled.
"We get off the hike and someone had written 'go back' in the dust on their car.
"Like, people are super weird about it, so I don't tell anyone exactly where I'm at because they would get really mad at me," Grimes said.

Rogan pointed out, that out of one hundred people in a small town there's always that "one guy" who has a problem.
"Exactly, I can't go to bars anymore because whatever that one idiot it at the bar and he can't wait to start a fight with me," Grimes went on.
"Just like can't wait to do it because it's a win-win for him, you know? He gets to sue me or something. I don't know, but it's a lose-lose for me."
The actor and singer revealed he first moved to Montana while filming the hit series Yellowstone.

He bought a caravan with his wife Bianca Rodrigues Grimes, who he shares a one-year-old son with, "and never left".
"We love it, it's the best thing that's ever happened to me," he told Rogan.

Marshals is the latest spin-off to premiere in Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan's impressive cowboy universe.
But Grimes isn't the only Dutton making a comeback with highly-anticipated spin-off Dutton Ranch set to premiere next.

The last 10 minutes of Yellowstone's finale featured the narration of 1883's Elsa Dutton.

Elsa was believed to be the first Dutton to die on the land.
The Western drama follows the Dutton family (post-Civil war era, yep we're talking generations back) as they embark on a relentless journey through the Great Plains, before settling in Montana.

1923
Prequel 1923 introduces a new generation of Duttons set in the early twentieth century.
Think: pandemics, historic drought, the end of the Prohibition and the Great Depression plaguing the Mountain West.

Marshals
Marshals centres on the life of the youngest Dutton after the events of Yellowstone's Season 5 finale.
Kayce Dutton (Grimes) joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals in the new series, where he will combine his skills as a cowboy and military background to bring justice to Montana range.

The show will focus on one of the oldest functioning cattle ranches in Texas, think: real, raw and gritty. The full cast and premiere date is yet to be announced.
1944
A working title for another exiting prequel series, 1944 is said to follow the formats of 1883 and 1923. The series was first green-lit in 2023 but no further details have been confirmed.
