Hello, hello – welcome back!

I hope you've gotten all your summer socialising out of the way, because it's MAFS season and you're not going to want to miss a second of this year's experiment.

Another year, another group of singles matched by experts in the hopes of finding love ... and entertaining the masses at dramatic Dinner Parties and awkward intimacy workshops.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves!

Lucky for us, the 18 soon-to-be newlyweds are dramatically walking in the dark towards two introductory parties.

EMBARGO 2/2/2026 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 Buck's Night Luke, Danny, Steven

Much darkness, very drama. Nine

Let's go!

The Hens' and Bucks' Nights

A room full of men with very well coiffed hair shake hands.

A bloke named Danny does my job for me, introducing fellow groom Grayson as a "Clint Eastwood type" and says Steve smells like he "just rolled out of a Tom Ford ad".

Former rapper David, 31, is quickly labelled "schmick" before we meet Steven, a man who is at pains to explain that sadly, he's not six foot tall.

"The thing I get terrified about is, 'oh geez, what if they don't like me?' What happens if you turn around and they go 'this is not a good start,'" he tells the group.

"I've got a good feeling you're going to get a really good match," Danny says.

So far, so much bro-ey goodness!

Right on cue, the dramatic string music begins and that can only mean one thing. Our next man dramatically walking through the dark night is trouble.

His name is Chris, he's desperate for a beer and an opportunity to publicly disparage everyone from the experts to "fat people".

EMBARGO 2/2/2026 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 Buck's Night Steve, Danny, Grayson

Off topic, but does anyone remember the show Everybody Hates Chris? Nine

Okay, wow. That's enough of the men... what are the ladies up to?

Oh, nothing yet.

Things are behind because first arrival Bec is running late and desperate for a wee.

EMBARGO 2/2/2026 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 Hen's Night Bec

Nice to meet you too, Bec! Nine

Eventually, she's joined by fellow brides, from bisexual Julia who is unsure if she'll be marrying a man or a woman to multiple situationship victim Rachel.

Then, yes, you guessed it! The daunting string music is back.

EMBARGO 2/2/2026 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 Hen's Night Gia

For her!  Nine

This time it's for Gia, a bride who is used to getting her way with men for one very important reason. Or actually, two very important reasons.

"Beautiful fake tits – he's going to listen to me isn't he?" she says.

Gia's slightly underwhelmed by the women on first impression and then very underwhelmed once she starts talking to them.

She ends up in conversation with Rachel and quickly disassociates...

EMBARGO 2/2/2026 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 Hen's Night Gia

Wishing she was at a Playboy mansion Sunday buffet. Nine

Across town, a groom named Grayson has extra hope in the experiment because one of his best mates is Johnny, of Season 8 Kerry and Johnny fame.

So yeah, no pressure!

...Okay, we're back with the women but Gia is still up in the clouds.

"The energy was boring, I'm so sorry," she says.

She soon lifts it with tales of Los Angeles and Hugh Hefner, until Bec tries to steer the conversation towards something everyone can contribute to. Such as things that didn't happen at the Playboy mansion.

It's been all of five minutes but already, a feud is emerging.

Bec says Gia's "attitude stinks", while Gia takes things a wee bit further.

"Bec? Is that her name? Yeah, weird b----." Gia tells (thankfully) only the producers.

"She was looking at me in a way like, 'I hate this b----', and I was giving it back, so I don't really care. Like, relax, you're a five out of ten, so f---ing chill, do you know what I mean?"

And with that, it's sadly time to break up the beautiful displays of sisterhood. We can hear wedding bells!

Alissa and David's wedding

Nurse and social media manager Alissa is a "pain in the arse" and proud of it.

The 33-year-old is coming off a six-year relationship where she felt no commitment.

"I honestly thought we were going to get married and have a family. I thought that person was going to be my person forever," she says.

This time, she doesn't want to "f--- around".

She describes her type as confident, ripped and secure, just as footage of her soon-to-be husband David in the gym appears.

So, uh, tick, tick, tick.

"I definitely want a strong woman, but not selfish and self-centred. I want someone who wants to build together and definitely someone who's ready for the level of commitment I'm ready for," he explains.

He's asked God to lead him to a peaceful match.

EMBARGO 2/2/2026 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 Alissa

Peaceful would not be MY chosen adjective. Nine

As he arrives at the ceremony, any concerns David may have are put to the wayside by the word "booty".

David likes it and Alissa has plenty, according to her very excited bridesmaids.

Finally she arrives, they lock eyes, make introductions and then... uhhhh, is Alissa objecting to her own wedding?!

"I'm really, really sorry. I don't think I can marry you," she says.

An eternity later, she finishes her sentence: "...Not until you get on one knee and propose to me first."

EMBARGO 2/2/25 9:30PM: MAFS 2026 David

Oh damn. Nine

The thing is, though, she's not joking.

David refuses. Cue a deeply long, uncomfortable back-and-forth.

EMBARGO 2/2/26 9:30PM MAFS 2026 David and Alissa

So, so long. Nine

I ordered food and had it delivered in the time it took for these two to sort this out. Producers took turns napping like a long-haul cabin crew. The cameramen had to change their camera batteries. Twice.

There are rumblings from their wedding crowd, and it's not just increasingly empty bellies. The bridesmaids are joining in Alissa's demands, while his groomsmen tell him not to "fold".

Finally, David relents. He probably just needed the bathroom.

"Hand on my heart, that seemed like a red flag moment to me," he says.

Alissa then says "Jesus Christ" and as a good Christian boy, he's now seeing two red flags.

But there's no time to dwell, we're already eight hours behind – vows! Go! Now, please!

In keeping with their theme, they then kiss... and kiss... and kiss again. It's almost as long as the one-knee standoff.

Once they head off, David's friends give whatever the opposite of a tick of approval is.

They quickly pull him aside at the reception and give him a big ol' warning about his "domineering" new wife.

EMBARGO 2/2/26 9:30PM MAFS 2026: David's wedding guests

Brutal! Nine

He's cautious but considering he's known her for like 30 minutes, give or take the two hours it took him to decide to get down on one knee, he's not willing to write her off completely just yet.

That's just as well, because Alissa offers a sincere apology for putting him on the spot with her proposal request.

"It was just something that I needed just to know that you're all in, sorry if that came off the wrong way," she says.

David really appreciates it and ends the night switching out his early red flags for some big green ones.

Not even her pulling out the worm in her wedding dress puts him off!

EMBARGO 2/2/26 9:30PM MAFS 2026: Alissa

You gotta respect it. Nine

It may not be peaceful, but we can already tell this match is going to be a lot of fun!

Rachel and Steven's wedding

Rachel and her laugh are desperately hoping to find love with someone who gives her compliments and introduces her to his friends and family.

Ah, the bar is in hell.

The 35-year-old from Melbourne is sick of unsuccessful dating that has chipped away at her confidence and she's hoping for a Rhi and Jeff style love story.

"A heart of gold is definitely how I describe my man. For me, looks only are skin deep – I'm looking for someone who's going to make me feel secure," she says.

Hopefully, that is boat doctor Steven.

He was encouraged to do the show by his mum, but she's still surprised he got picked.

The experts think Rachel and Steven have had similar bad dating experiences and hope that together, they can heal and find something real.

On the day of their wedding, they're both very nervous about the other not liking them.

They're getting married on a boat so hopefully that's not the case. The only escape is into a cold Sydney harbour.

It is smiles and laughs galore as they meet. Emphasis on the laughs.

Their vows speak of similar struggles with modern dating and it's all very promising!

Well, until they get to chatting during their photoshoot and Rachel realises she hasn't received one compliment.

This stings even further as she receives them from literally everyone else and she starts to get very in her head about whether Steven actually likes her.

She asks him directly and he's horrified.

EMBARGO 2/2/26 9:30PM MAFS 2026: Steven

Woops. Nine

"I really dropped the ball there as a groom," he says, confirming that he does in fact think she looks bloody amazing.

It's an insecure feeling he can relate to and he's really sorry, which is everything Rachel wants to hear.

They laugh and dance the night away and dare I say... I have high hopes for this pair!

Tomorrow night, our first couples head off on their honeymoons and of course, the weddings continue.

Will they be as lively as these two? We're dying to find out!

See you then, drinks and popcorn at the ready of course. MAFS is back, baby!
