Exclusive: Adrian clarifies 'cheating' on his ex and the reason he didn't write a confession letter to Awhina
EXCLUSIVE: Adrian had a strong reaction to wife Awhina's revelation that she'd cheated on a previous partner years ago during Wednesday night's episode of Married At First Sight.
The groom erupted and told her "there's no excuses when it comes to cheating," – before producers later told him that his application said he'd cheated in the past.

Speaking exclusively to 9Entertainment, Adrian clarified what happened in his past and why he reacted the way he did to his wife's confession.
"The reason why I reacted that way is because I felt like she was giving a lot of 'buts' and I don't really think there's any excuse for cheating. I understand it was a long time ago, but I just think there's no excuse for it in my books," he began.

Talking about the confession on his application, Adrian said it was surrounding something that happened when he was 20-21 – a similar age to Awhina in her story.
Adrian explained: "Me and my ex-partner had broken up, and I was talking to her a little bit but we were on and off. Then I ended up seeing someone else, and me and her got back together as boyfriend and girlfriend.
"Looking back now, I feel like I cheated because I still had love for her and was in love with her... and I went and was seeing someone else even though we were broken up.
"Essentially to me, that felt like cheating. That's what I meant by it."
When asked if he looks back and thinks what happened was wrong, he added: "Definitely. When you're emotionally invested in someone, that should be the only person that you're talking to especially if its a partner.
"I feel like if you still have love for someone, you're not ready to move on until you have done your healing or have got them out of your mind.

"As I got older I understand that more. If you're emotionally invested in someone, you shouldn't go see someone else until you're 100 per cent moved on. Or essentially, in my opinion, it's essentially going to feel like cheating."
Adrian didn't take part in the Confessions Letter Challenge later on, leaving Awhina heartbroken as she had put so much effort into hers.
The groom said that at that time, he didn't feel ready to share some of his darker moments with Awhina or tell his story so honestly.
"Looking back in hindsight, I wish I went to a happy place and wrote all the lovely things that happened to me... but the task was a pivotal moment in my life, and the pivotal moment was a hard time that made me a better person," he continued.

Adrian said Confessions Week did bring the couple closer together. Nine
Despite it being a difficult week, Adrian said Confessions Week certainly had some positive moments that brought himself and Awhina closer together.
