Watch: Eliot pours his heart out in emotional Confession Letter before getting an unusual reaction from wife Veronica
When Eliot returned to Married At First Sight for a second time he swore he'd do things differently, and he is... well, at least he's trying to.
In Tuesday night's episode, Eliot and Veronica were tasked with writing a confessions letter revealing something personal about themselves.
So Eliot wrote about "one of [his] most deep and harrowing memories" and shared the story of his younger sister falling into a coma when he was nine-year-old.

Eliot had made an effort to be more vulnerable but he didn't exactly get the reaction he was hoping for.

Eliot bared his soul as he read out the emotional letter. Nine
"The news hit us like a ton of bricks. My mum burst into tears which eventually led to me joining her in a choir of uncontrollable sobbing," Eliot read out.
"It felt like it was the end of the world."

Eliot went on to explain the profound impact that experience had on him then and throughout his life.
"It means I never want to be overwhelmed by emotion. Like anyone I feel things I just do my best to identify and understand it rather than be controlled by it," he added.
"I feel like this is relevant to you, our relationship and this experiment and why I may appear guarded sometimes. Yours sincerely, Eliot," he signed off.
While the letter marked a positive step forward for Eliot who knew his wife had been asking for more vulnerability, Veronica didn't feel that way.
Initially she responded to Eliot's emotional letter by simply saying, "Cute. Thank you for sharing, that's very nice."
But it was clear Veronica was totally unmoved by the story.
She vented to cameras and fumed that Eliot chose to tell her "nothing".

Later, Veronica complained to Eliot that his story wasn't even about him and he was simply dumbfounded.
"Me being vulnerable and you're saying 'that's not enough for me?'" he questioned.
Veronica wasn't interested in a "boring, repetitious" argument with Eliot and declared herself "done" and she moved into another apartment for the night.
Would this letter mean two steps forward and 10 back for Veronica and Eliot?
Married At First Sight airs Sunday at 7pm and Monday to Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
