Demon's statement of defiance
The Demon is on fire.
But now he has the biggest challenge of his career against Jannik Sinner.
He admits it'll be a very tough match but had one defiant statement.
"I'm going to have to do something I haven't done before. Why not start here?," he told Nine's Jim Courier.
He then signs the camera with "No Place Like Home".
De Minaur wins!
The Demon is through!
For the first time he's made the quarter finals of the Australian Open.
De Minaur's mother is crying in the stands at the 6-0, 7-6, 6-3 result.
"He came out ready to play," John McEnroe said on Nine.
De Minaur will now play Jannik Sinner.
Will the 10-year drought end?
Alex de Minaur is on track to end a drought here.
The last time an Australian made the quarter finals of the Australian Open was in 2015.
And who was it? Nick Kyrgios.
De Minaur gets the break
Alex de Minaur well and truly on track now.
He's up 4-2 after a break in the third.
And that last shot was a cross court winner but John McEnroe wasn't happy with the effort of Michelsen.
"It looks like he just stopped playing, didn't even try for it," he said on Nine.
Cruz Hewitt's run ends
MELBOURNE: Cruz Hewitt's Australian Open campaign is over.
The 16-year-old showed all the fighting qualities of his famous father to force a second set tiebreak before falling 6-3, 7-6 to world No.1 Jan Kumstat on Court 3.
The much taller and more powerful Kumstat won the tiebreak 9-7 after Hewitt forced a set point but couldn't capitalise in the junior boys' second round match.

What a turnaround
What a tiebreaker from Alex de Minaur!
He was down 5-4 but then gained a set point after a mis-hit and a big ace.
Then Michelsen hit the ball wide, leading to a massive roar from the crowd and the Demon.
He's up 6-0, 7-6 now.
"He had to work hard but withstood the pressure of the young American," Todd Woodbridge said on Nine.

That's a big miss and as John McEnroe puts it, he's let Michelsen "off the hook".
"You could see the tension building in, he started to really feel it," Todd Woodbridge said.

Down 15-0, he pulled off an amazing cross court winner.
Michelsen couldn't help but applaud and Katie Boulter was doing the same in the stands.
