Joey urges NRLW ‘raid’ rival code after star’s incredible switch
Andrew Johns wants NRLW clubs to target the rugby sevens program as cross-code star Teagan Levi takes the competition by storm.
Levi signed with the Gold Coast Titans for the 2026 season after opting to take a sabbatical option in her Rugby Australia contract and has scored four tries in four games.

From those four matches, the Titans have only lost one which was against premiership powerhouse, the Roosters.
Levi started at five-eighth in the match and scored. She crossed for a double in the Titans’ recent match against North Queensland which was a 34-6 win.
The eighth Immortal has been seriously impressed with the start to her NRLW career.
“How good is she?” Johns said on Nine’s Immortal Behaviour.
“They’ve got to raid rugby sevens. I’ve seen the sevens train, and there’s hardly any skills. They’re just doing repeat speeds, 40s, 50s, 60s, continual running. She’s brought over that speed endurance.
“She’s a superstar.”
Johns wasn’t limiting that raid to Australia either.
“Get overseas. Get some English, Kiwis, South Africans,” he said before host Ruan Sims suggested the USA players too.
NRLW isn’t the only code Levi has flirted with having been picked in the 2021 AFLW draft for the Gold Coast Suns. She opted to take up a deal with Rugby Australia instead.
Her sister Maddison had played with the Suns in 2021. She had also been on the radar of NRLW clubs.
Both Levi sisters are signed with RA until the end of 2028 which will take them to the Los Angeles Olympics.

There are currently multiple rugby sevens players running around in the NRLW which includes New Zealand’s dual Olympic gold medalist Stacey Waaka who is at the Warriors.
Waaka previously played for the Broncos in 2024.
Australian sevens players Madison Ashby, Sariah Paki and Damita Betham are all contracted to NRLW clubs too.
Waaka’s Warriors will come up against Levi’s Titans this Sunday for the NRLW’s Magic Round in Wagga.
