‘Pull your head in’: Legend fumes at wives’ ‘outrageous’ Instagram act
Cross-code legend Mat Rogers has taken aim at the partners of departing Gold Coast players who took a parting swipe at the NRL club on the way out the door.
The partners of both Sam Verrills and Jaimin Jolliffe appeared to criticise the club following the team’s last game of the season at the weekend.

Gold Coast won six games and finished 16th on the ladder, only avoiding the wooden spoon thanks to the awful Dragons.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Verrills’ partner, Teagan, captioned a farewell photo dump with a blunt message.
Her caption read, “Thank god that’s over x”, with the sentiment quickly echoed by Jolliffe’s wife Tia, who commented “Hallelujah” underneath the post.
Teagan promptly replied, sealing their shared discontent with, “No more Titans, hallelujah.”
Jolliffe has signed a deal with Huddersfield while Verrills is expected to join him in the Super League next season.
Rogers, who was a dual-code international and spent four seasons at the Titans when they first entered the NRL, was left fuming at the situation.
“Pull your head in,” he said on his SEN radio show.
“These men are out there busting their arse, and they’re making significant money.
“It is outrageous that a partner of a player would do that... what’s said behind closed doors at your home, leave it behind closed doors at home.
“It’s not required. You’ve got a group of men who are trying to drive a culture, a coach trying to drive it all, not everyone is going to be happy all the time, but you’ve got to understand it’s a bigger picture, it’s not all about you.
“The pair of these guys are both going to England. Saying ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘thank god it’s over’, you are now going to live in the north of England from the Gold Coast... good luck.

“If I’m an administrator at another club where that guy’s coming (to play) I’m thinking ‘what have we inherited here, it’s a pain in the arse’.
“I’m pissed off about it. Team culture is so important. It’s not on.”
The social media pot-shots coincided with the Titans farewelling five players – Verrills, Jolliffe, Tuki Simpkins, Allan Fitzgibbon and Phillip Sami.
Gold Coast were cruelled of a victory in their final game of the 2026 season, losing 24-20 against the Dolphins on Friday night.
Verrills’ departure comes after a frustrating season where he fell out of favour with the Titans under rookie coach Josh Hannay.
Despite playing a combined 45 games across the 2024 and 2025 seasons, the hooker managed just 12 appearances this year, slipping behind Oliver Pascoe.
Verrills was not re-signed and remains without a club for 2027, though he has been strongly linked to the Catalans Dragons.
He posted a brief message on his own social media account on Sunday.
“Thank you for my time over the last four years been a pleasure. Grateful for the friends and memories I’ve made,” Verrills wrote on Instagram.
After missing the entire 2026 season due to an ACL injury, Jolliffe is heading to the Super League after signing a three-year deal with the Huddersfield Giants.
