Andrew Johns

Newcastle and its fans are dealing with heartbreak after grand final defeat. But there is also a sense of pride.

Andrew Johns has detailed the hilarious moment he was swarmed by some rowdy fans on grand final morning.

For his third podcast ever, Andrew Johns sat down with brother Matty to speak about the Newcastle Knights and their grand final run.

Justin Holbrook grinned, fidgeted and kept his grand final cards close to his chest, keeping a “secret” when quizzed on a selection rumour.

Andrew Johns is convinced the whirlwind rise of the Knights can continue for one more game.

Now one of the most popular and spectacular players in the game, Mark Nawaqanitawase considered giving it away altogether.

Of all the players featuring in the grand final, few have had to overcome more than Roosters centre Billy Smith.

Knights fans are partying like it’s 1997 and the calls are growing louder for Silverchair to reunite for the grand final.

Andrew Johns and Billy Slater could not believe the young Titans playmaker had requested a massive pay upgrade after just 11 first-grade appearances.

Sandon Smith arrived at Newcastle with no guarantees but now, he sits alongside the greatest player in club history.
