Good news for Vauban
The last horse to win from barrier 21 - the gate where Buckaroo will jump from - was Vow And Declare back in 2019.
Overseas runner Vauban will come out of the most successful gate in Melbourne Cup history after drawing barrier 11, which has produced eight winners.
The news isn't so good for Absurde, who has drawn barrier 7, which has only yielded one winner throughout the race's lengthy history.
Buckaroo holds steady after draw

Buckaroo has settled as the $5.50 favourite with TAB despite drawing a tough gate, with overseas runner Vauban second in the market at $7 from a much nicer barrier.
Geelong Cup winner Onesmoothoperator is also at single-figure odds, as is Sea King.
