Melbourne Cup 2024 barrier draw: Favourite Buckaroo draws gate No.21, Vauban strikes luck with No.11
The barrier draw for this year's Lexus Melbourne Cup has been revealed.
Betting favourite Buckaroo drew barrier No.21, which has yielded five Cup winners, with the most recent being Vow and Declare in 2019.
Overseas raider Vauban will come out of barrier 11 - the most successful with eight Cup winners - while the in-form Jamie Kah will steer Okita Soushi out of barrier 10.

Vauban was favourite in 2023 and the draw will do the import no harm this time around.

Last year's Melbourne Cup winner, Without A Fight took out the race from barrier No.16 which will house Mostly Cloudy this time around.
The other major winner out of the barrier draw was Trust In You, which drew barrier No.5, which rates as the second most successful barrier in Melbourne Cup history.
