Nathan Lyon has done it, what a beauty.
Bavuma walks off for 35 after some brilliant captaincy from Pat Cummins. He put a silly mid-off in and that seemed to upset Bavuma’s rhythm.
Lyon floated it outside off stump and it spun sharply with Bavuma taking a wild swing towards the legside. He missed the ball completely and was bowled.
“A dagger to the heart of South Africa,” caller Mark Howard said on SuperSport.

No sign of a nightwatchman
As stumps approaches, Ryan Rickelton is padded up in the pavilion so it appears there’ll be no nightwatchman for him.

Travis Head went to check on Ackerman after he was being hit in the head.
Originally, it looked like he might have been telling him he missed the review but he was just checking on him.
You can hear Marnus Labuschagne wasn’t as sympathetic through the stump mic.
“See ya buddy. Heady what are you doing mate, he’s off?,” Labuschagne could be heard saying.
“He’s just checking,” someone could be heard saying before Head said “it’s all right”.

In the end, it saved South Africa a review, as Natalie Germanos pointed out on SuperSport.
You could understand Ackerman’s confusion though after being smacked on the helmet.
The Australians are celebrating and there’s controversy
Marques Ackerman is gone!
The opener tried to guide a bouncer over the keeper but instead edged the ball into his helmet, and it fell to slip.

Ackerman went down to Temba Bavuma and tried to review but as Marnus Labuschagne yelled out, the time was up.
“It’s touch and go,” Natalie Germanos said of the timing of his review.
“A little bit of controversy.”
Travis Head went over to check on his welfare after being hit in the helmet before Ackerman started walking off.
Ackerman is gone for 62 and South Africa is three wickets down.
Ackerman moves to 50
Marques Ackerman makes it two half centuries for the Test.
It’s barely been chanceless though. He almost hit a catch on 49 as Nathan Lyon tried to lull him into a false sense of security.
But anyway he’s there now and South Africa is 2-80.
