When Australia went out to bowl on the last day of the fourth Test, victory appeared difficult.
It looked even trickier before the final session until the bowlers broke through with brilliant performances.
Wide World of Sports has rated all the Aussie players from an incredible Boxing Day Test.
Sam Konstas - 6.5
Australia's new hero.
Chairman of selectors George Bailey said after Konstas' selection that the Aussies needed "something different" at the top of the order.
"You can say the way our top three have been playing has been reasonably similar and we'd like the ability to throw something different at India on the back of that," Bailey said.
That's exactly what came.
The debutant shocked the world by constantly ramping Jasprit Bumrah in the first innings.
But it wasn't just something different with the bat.
Konstas kept pumping up the crowd, and mimicked the occasional shoulder charge to Bay 13 after his incident with Virat Kohli.
He showed there's still fragility in his defence in the second innings, scoring only 8, but a star has definitely arrived on the scene.
Usman Khawaja - 6
The opener's best Test of the series.
Konstas' aggression appeared to help Khawaja at the other end as he moved past the 50 mark.
Saw off the new ball in expert fashion during the second innings too.
Marnus Labuschagne - 7
He's back scoring runs, now Marnus just needs that elusive century.
Both innings weren't without some slip-ups but his effort in the second saved Australia during a dismal middle-order collapse.
Steve Smith - 8
There's no doubt about it anymore, Steve Smith is back.
His 140 in the first innings was simply beautiful to watch.
Now all eyes are on the SCG and there'll be hopes he can do it again on home turf.
Travis Head - 2
Proved he is human after all.
Finished with a duck and one but claimed the important wicket of Rishabh Pant in the second innings.
Mitch Marsh - 3
Marsh is just clinging on to his Test spot.
Scores of 4 and 0 mean he's only reached double digits once this series.
Barely contributed with the ball but showed how much of an asset he is as a fielder.
Claimed a sharp catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma and then caught a tough chance to send Rishabh Pant on his way.
Alex Carey - 6
Combined for a quality 53-run partnership with Pat Cummins in the first innings.
Failed in his second dig but with the gloves Carey has been faultless.
Pat Cummins - 9
An incredible leader and player.
The king of clutch did it again.
Hit 49 runs in the first innings, then took 3-89.
His 41 in the second innings may have saved the game before taking 3-28.
Expertly captained Australia to victory and deserved his player of the match award.
Mitchell Starc - 4
Not Starc's best Test, claiming only one wicket across the two innings.
Clearly not fully fit after receiving medical during India's first dig.
Asked post-match on Fox Cricket about his injury, Starc simply said "we'll worry about that tomorrow".
